I love how you all are enjoying San Diego beers. More good beer comes out of there than anywhere IMO.

Made a special trip to Binny's to get some more not realizing it was a limited release.

Damn it!

Picked up some Green Flash Imperial, the 16th Anniversary from Two Brothers, a Dragon's Milk, and an Otto in Oak with smoked hops from Victory.

Grilling and beer drinking today, men.

I can't stand the overpowering taste of cloves in beer.

I got it in a Trader Joe's Dark Ale earlier and now in the 16th Anniversary which is more barley wine than beer at 16% alcohol.

Are you talking about the Double Bastard because that's a seasonal release. I think it comes out every winter.

I was very impressed by the 16th Anniversary, could barely taste the booze in that one.

Yes. I wasn't familiar with it.

16th was alright but not my style. Just doing Imperial and Hop Wallop tonight.

Picked up some Pipeworks over the weekend. Have not tried it yet. I need to stop buying and start drinking some of my inventory.

Bigby's was a great time Saturday. I didn't realize they opened at 4. We got there at 4:02, so it worked out perfectly. We left around 7. The place was starting to fill up big time. Will definitely be going back. I voted for Zombie Dust.

I have a new summerbeer and it's Akari Shogun by Half Acre - reminds me a lot of Gumballhead.

I'm having a buddy who lives in California stop at a few liquor stores today to see if he has Pliny the Elder near him. If so, I will have a consistent source for Russian River shipments to the RSG Castle.

Quite possibly the best beer I have ever had.

Having my first one tonight. I called one of the stores near him today. They have it! Said there is no limit. He's sending me twelve. Boom.

Nice! Also see if they have Pliny the Younger - DIPA. Some swear it is better than the Elder.

I thought Pliny the Younger was only available for a short time earlier in the year. is that right, UMN?

Overrated, IMO. Great beer, but doesn't live up to all the hype. There is a brewer "Big Time Brewery" in Washington that came up with an IPA called "Whiny The Complainer". Apparently Russian River didn't want to distribute to Washington anymore or something like that.

You Pliny fans should really see if there's someone on the east coast who can get you Heady Topper.

Believe me, man, I'm trying. Planning on taking a trip out there in August for my birthday. Only problem is having to ship a couple cases back to myself.

And if you make it to Waterbury you absolutely have to go to Hill Farmstead too, as some of their IPAs are even better. Only reason I didn't mention them was because their beers are even harder to come by and have even more ridiculous trade value.

Awesome. Thanks for the advice. The ladies can go to Ben & Jerry's while my buddy and I get smashed off HT and Hill Farmstead.

Have anyone had anything from Spiteful Brewing? Ran to Binny's over lunch and picked some up. I'm working on a beer trade, so I'm throwing in some Spiteful products. Looking forward to trying it.

Just read this in the Sun Times this morning. Thought I would post it out there for people who enjoy
this kind of thing. Never been to this place or tried any of their product. Used to go to a lot of beer
fests though and they can be fun. weather should be nice Saturday. Doug, you going to this or been
to the brewery?

Mundelein Community Connections and Tighthead Brewing Company will be holding the 2nd Annual Mundelein Craft Beer Festival Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm. Advance tickets will be $35 and day of the event tickets $40. The festival will be held in the parking lot of Tighthead Brewing Company which shares it's lot with the Metra Train Station in downtown Mundelein.

Stopped by FFF today, since I was at a client in that area. Apparently they will be without ZD and a few of their other beers for the next month, due to the brewery construction. Was disappointed to be shut out on the ZD front. Still dropped $80 though

Had some of the Pipeworks Flower Guild Weisse last night. It was decent, nothing special.

It's funny you mention Crystal Hero because I was thinking about having that last night.

I haven't tried it yet, but am looking forward to it.

If you have some, please post your review here. :thumleft:

Will do. Per Binny's site, the AH store still has some inventory.

Crystal Hero is amazing. My favorite they have done so far of this single hop IPA thing they are doing. Its a very crisp and clean hop and never really showcased in beers because everyone wants citrus hops.

Do you like cider? I find most American versions way too sweet but my friend who can't consume gluten is happy to have them around. Tweason's pretty bad but I can't really think of too many good gluten-free beers unfortunately.
