Agree with the Bernsie hate.

It is tough for me to compare Jordan and James. The eye test tells me Jordan was better. Jordan and Kobe's games line up a lot more in terms of style. James defers so often and doesn't seem to have that constant drive to win. He turns that on and off. Jordan and Kobe always seemed to know when their teams needed them to dominate and tended to come through in those moments. In so many of those Heat games, there were other folks who didn't just hit one bit shot, but shot after shot like Battier last night (Miller earlier). To his credit James did have a big game 7, but I saw him defer over and over to his teammates.

He did defer, but I don't see how that's any different from MJ setting Paxson up in the 1991 Finals for jumper after jumper, or setting up Kerr to beat the Jazz in 1997, and so on. James did the same for Battier last night, and justifiably so. He was hot.

James was better in the clutch during game seven than he was in game six. He did hit the final dagger over Leonard with like 20 seconds to go last night.

Wonder if its a stretch to think that he Heat winning the title will get more airplay on this show than the Blackhawks will if they win the Cup.

If it is so expected for Lebron and the Heat to win, why does it require a full show (which I'm sure they'll give) to talk about it? Who in Chicago really gives a shit?

It'll give the LeBron and Bernsie ALS 5 hours of fuck you time to the masses. Goff will probably call into their show again too.

Besides using the N word and being an old bat what is Bernsie's problem with Paula Dean? Doesn't he extol the virtues of homey, classic foods and Waffle House?

The Puck Daddy blog is Bernstein-approved, therefore he parrots their information, good or bad. Good for Terry for pointing out that none other than Pat Foley was talking about how weak Crawford's glove side has been, not just in the previous game but his entire career. The issue has been brought up in the past as well. Dan, stop talking hockey.

He really isn't talking hockey, though, he's kinda just repeating somethings like a trained parrot would do. There isn't a real discussion going on, just mindless repetition. Same thing happens when he talks SABR and stuff.

Always with the disclaimer "we're always railing against the idiocy of most hockey talk..." and then simply repeats what he has read off his carefully pruned Twitter feed. Most sports thoughts are bad, not just in hockey.

I was wondering this same thing during transition. What Chicago sports fan gives 2 shits about the Heat and is desirous of hearing them broken down and analyzed? Is this Dan's way of pointing out that we should be appreciative of the greatness we are witnessing?

Bringing a guy on to be a Lebron apologist probably plays great in Chicago.

I like how Bernstein is so adamant about detaching Lebron's "greatness" from Jordan's legacy--except when comparing the two benefits Lebron, disparages Jordan, or does both simultaneously. Earlier in the show Dan quoted Jeff Van Gundy's statement that Lebron's victory "makes it clear that you don't need to be an a**hole to be a champion." Dan followed that up by saying, "And you know who he's talking about: Jordan." This passes as unassailable truth for Bernstein. Never mind that Van Gundy came off as a whiny jackass when he coached against Jordan and now presents himself as a self-parodying buffoon as an NBA analyst: If Jeff Van Gundy says it, it must be true (provided he has something negative to say about Jordan, that is.). Forget about Van Gundy's long-standing feud with Jordan, folks, the man is now to be regarded as an oracle.

Wow, that interview with Ethan was 20 solid minutes of licking Lebron's nuts, from all 3 of them. It's rather embarassing for B&B, but also for a guy that covers the team daily to be like this.

But the point is that he and Boers have been trying to destroy Jordan's image/stature for years. Kobe was their first prop in this campaign but proved unfit for the job. Now they're using Lebron in slightly more subtle terms.

Dan's effusive Lebron love has a few purposes:

1) It makes it known to all that he is not a homer, and instead is a professional journalist covering sports - this is serious business.

2) It irritates a fan base that he despises every aspect of.

3) It allows him to step up on his pedestal and educate the masses on what good basketball is. Holmes does a similar thing when he always mentions "my students". Anything these two diminutive fellas can do to make themselves feel superior, they'll do.

Now Holmes parrots this because he worships Bernstein and wants to be accepted by him. You can tell that it doesn't come as natural, or as from the heart with him as it does with Bernstein. Mac does his shtick with rooting for Lebron because he just wants to do anything to annoy a fan base that he feels is in direct competition with his beloved Hawks.

Bernstein though, does all this because he's a grade A douche.

I've never understood the "deferring" angle, when we consider what Jordan did in Game 5 against L.A. and other games.

Have they mentioned Kobe Bryant's Top 5 GOAT List?

He had Larry Bird on I would be shocked if they didn't do some real ignorant basketball trolling.

Well, he was told to defer. That is the main difference. And it flat out killed Jordan to do it. You could see the pain. Along with the fact that back then their was physical defense being played.

Pops dared LeBron to beat him with the jump shot. LeBron did that. I dont know how that is now the postscript to his legacy that some people are making it out to be. Or how he is getting a pass for being a complete tard in his post game speech to the white-shirted dimwits.

Someone please google image search Akron and show me the "inner city" part. The King survived Akron to bless us with his bball greatness. Holy shit.

The unfortunate thing about Dan is that aside from the midday show, everyone else is buying into the tone that Bernstein has set for the station. It's activism radio. Just talk sports and act like goofs. That's enough.

Half expected a Paterno update like we got during the Hawks game.

Perhaps defer is not the right word to apply to Jordan's play, but it's what LeBron does from time to time when the expectation is that he could and should carry the team on his back.
