Totally random thought, what is your opinion on why Parker isnt a HOFamer?? The drug scandal hurt him that much? Seems like he has the stats. Best at his position for 5 years, WS winner, MVP, batting titles, etc. What gives? I'll hang up and listen to your answer. Thanks for taking my call.

Hmmm, my keyboard mustve been replaced by that enigma machine the Krauts used in WW2 and Dave Parker came out transposed as Keeping Score.

There are too many guys just like him- Dale Murphy, Dwight Evans, Baines, etc. But now that Dawson got in, he should certainly be considered along with many others.

I would definitely have a strong opinion on this if baseball didn't absolutely suck. But not as bad as hockey.

He didn't have a long enough string of years. He had two by my count, a couple pretty good years with Cinci, and several other good years. Lived in the shadow of Stargell as well in Pitt which didn't help.

Maybe because the perception was that he turned really one dimensional in the early/mid 80's.

But he was much better than Jim Rice and the overloved Andre Dawson when he was on. And still more worthy of HOF consideration than the two of them. IMO.

Id say he did more than Dawson . Career OPS a little better, maybe a shade worse defensively. Like JORR mentioned, if Dawson and Rice are in, you can make strong cases for guys like Dwight Evans and Parker.

Yeah, I just meant he may not have had Dawson's Montreal Speed or whatever but yeah, he put up as good numbers.
