In fairness though, if a fairly routine play at SS is made, the Sox are out of the inning with a 1 run lead still.

Hahn can get a good prospect for Alexi.

Feel free to pull the trigger on that one.

Ya think?

Im starting to think its going to be tough to get "good" prospects for anyone short of a superstar or real good starting pitcher.

It seems the rules and trends are making teams hold on to prospects.

I don't think they can. Alexei is owed a lot of money for a guy who offers nothing at the plate and whose defense has been slipping the last couple years. The best they hope for is to find a team that is desperate enough to take the money and offer a low level prospect. I'd be all for it.

Just yesterday I heard Buster Olney talking about the trade market going through Chicago and started with the Sox and how they're set up nicely.

Anyone who is really paying attention and knows the game know the cubs just have a few more suspects but the Sox have more at the MLB level

Baseball Prospectus and Kevin Goldstein are ones who promulgate that idea as well.

Yeah, the Baseball Prospectus White Sox thing is weird.

I agree with you in general, but if you look around at all the contending teams with huge holes at shortstop, I think a guy like Ramirez might be an exception. He's easy to dislike if you watch him day in and day out, but when you compare him to guys playing elsewhere, he's really one of the better ones.

I had to laugh at the horror of him committing his 12th error after I saw Castro make his 14th yesterday.

Man if Alexie could just put it all together. He's starting to remind me of Shawon

Isn't he getting a bit long in the tooth?

Dude was older when they inked that long-term deal...that was a few years ago.

On a better team, in a stronger line up, he would get better pitches to hit on a regualr basis.

I don't know what difference that would make when he lets all the good pitches go to swing at sliders in the dirt.

It wouldn't be shocking to me if someone was willing to take a flier on Adam Dunn. The guy is having probably his best month since joining the Sox and, while he has one more year on his contract, it isn't some backbreaking amount for a DH who will most likely give you 40 HR.

If Hahn can move that contract, even for nothing in return, I will be impressed with his work.

Less sliders in the dirt to offer at.

Yeah, the Baseball Prospectus White Sox thing is weird.

AHHH KG left BP August 31, 2012 .... he is now the Director of pro scouting with the Houston Astros.

The NEW prospect guy at BP is his old podcast partner The Professor jason Parks....but unlike KG who did all his own research and ranking lists gathering information from his numerous contacts Parks head up a team who debate and then rank all prospects and organizations..... Parks recently tweeted that the Cubs may have 4 of the TOP 30 prospects (Baez, Soler, Almora and newly drafted Bryant) and could have 7 of the TOP 101 going into 2014. The White Sox MAY have one (Hawkins) in the TOP 101.

My High School pitching coach's name was Less Sliders.

likely, no one will be moved at all and they'll just stand pat bracing for a strong 2nd half

They signed the #2 international prospect according to MLB.com. That's something.

To the earlier talk on Addison Reed, closers are a dime a dozen. If someone wants to give up a nice player for him, trade him.

The only guy I'm keeping is Chris Sale. The rest can be traded.

Sox have a 10-game homestand ending July 28. Knowing JR, they won't trade anyone before that.

Paulie and Crain to the DL.

That is not going to help the trading situation

Zapata was the #2 prospect until the Sox signed him.

Then he became #9.

It's all bullshit.

Nobody knows nothing.
