Fine.

I'm fine with it, as well.

I was just sayin'.

Keep the subsidies for children, though.

You can't. That's why there's a legal statute.

Giving this idiotic "argument" any sort of credence by even responding beyond "fuck you, you empty-headed, vapid Caller Bob" borders on being a personal failure for being personally duped by such nonsense.

There is an entire thread here about an underage male giving consent to a female teacher.

You are to intelligent to constantly post such bitter vitriol.

I don't think Seacrest is vapid.

It's your right to be wrong. :D

There's absolutely no sound reasoning as to why someone would even pretend to argue the possibility of such a (for brevity's sake) "slippery slope", unless they're trolling or trying to quell some prurient interest of their own. Period.

Seacrest, I believe that was a 16-21 type deal wasnt it? Like a close age?

Anyway, as I understand it, attraction to 15-16 year olds has a separate distinction from pedophilia which is just small children

Im not 100% sure on that, but it would make sense to differentiate between attraction to a 16 year old and a 6 year old. IMO

This goes back to the difference between an 18yr old and a 15-17yr old. Is there much of a difference? Show me a group of high school kids and I cant tell you how old they are, They all look young and stupid.

First of all, it's "too". Second of all, I don't have any blood, it's entirely vitriol .... not a good character mark in my favor, but it's as accurate as often as it's not.

Irrespective of that, I made my brief comments and that's that.

Everyone stay the fuck out of other people's affairs and quit trying to justify close-mindedness with idiotic "but/if" statements.

That's the thing, though, they look young and stupid and most of them are stupid.

Shockingly unaware of themselves are horribly naive.

I don't disagree.

How about a 10 year old? Or a 12 year old?

Hank, I'm honestly upset you even make such a posit.

The clear and obvious rational adult response is then don't stick your dick in any of them. If you're not entirely sure about something that could have extraordinarily negative repercussions to your life then you essentially deserve said repercussions for being so flatly careless.

I don't know what the mystery is with a lot of this.

The mystery is what makes an 18yr old an adult vs a 16 or 17yr old. Somebody pulled that number out of their ass 100 years ago?

There is no mystery.

There are organizations that have been proponents of this behavior for years. They reside in the same universe that you do.

Gay Marriage Opponents Warn Supreme Court Ruling Could Put Nation On Slippery Slope To Rationality

WASHINGTON—Condemning the decision as “dangerously reasonable” and “beyond level-headed,” vocal opponents of same-sex marriage strongly cautioned that this morning’s Supreme Court rulings supporting gay rights could put the United States on a one-way, slippery slope to rationality. “I don’t think people fully understand that letting homosexuals legally marry one another is just the very beginning of a dangerous road to clear logic and sound, sensible decision making,” said anti-gay protester Kevin Moore, 43, who warned that the landmark ruling will likely lead to “an unspeakable amount of enlightened discourse and thoughtful compromises across the country.” “I mean, we’re talking about granting people their basic human rights on the basis of written law and common decency here. What’s next? Using sound judgment and compassion to foster a more humane culture and system of government? This is pure lunacy.” Gay marriage opponents later stated they were at least relieved to know that states still maintained their rights to remain as irrational and misguided as they each saw fit.

I see your point, but something has to be the norma normans, and with something as nebulous as "what age can a person intellectually assent and consent to porking" (in high-faluttin' legalese terminology), I don't know what the best thing to use is .... 18 has kind have become the area for everything but drinking (and I'm not convinced 18 is any worse than 21 ... not convinced 18 wouldn't be better, frankly).

For now though, the simple and plain answer is "under 18" (or whatever ... 17 in Illinois if you're keeping score at home ... or Hank Scorpio out and about) is "statuatory", and that's all there is to it. It's existence is it's own justification. Not entirely rational, but that's all there is to discuss. If and when we find something better, I would like to think that we as a people will enact it.

As an aside, I'm perfectly happy if we shitcanned the aforementioned " marriage subsidies, tax breaks, credits, and other accommodations".

What the SCOTUS did today has been done numerous times by other societies since we began recording history.

It has yet to turn out well. This time will be NO exception.

And another quick check with recorded history shows that folks who disagree with Judeo-Christians are unable to let us be.

History ebbs and flows along the same paths and has done so for almost 6000 years.

This to shall pass.

Jesus fucking Christ. The angles on some of the shit we talk about here are so abnormal, I don't even know where to start, but I guess that's what makes the world go 'round.

Gays DO NOT equal pedophiles. Is someone who wants to fuck children mentally ill? I don't know. Don't really care. They are still NOT allowed to fuck children because it RUINS children!

The ruling isn't meant to solve all philosophical debates. Early primates fucked trees or goats or whatever had a hole. Maybe we're all sick! Maybe we're all normal! All that matters is if we're hurting someone else, and gays are clearly not, as long as their partner is old enough to make their own decisions!

In all honesty, if people wanted to marry trees, I wouldn't give two shits. Go fuck a horse, for all I care. But don't fuck children because it ruins them! This shit is not difficult. And if we just ended the tax subsides, we could just let the various religions sort it out. I am a proponent of this. Marriage doesn't mean anything anymore, anyway. Let the best condemners in the world (the Christians) figure out what the fuck they want to allow.
