Great move by clippers, 23rd pick has little value

Why were the Clippers so insistent on not giving up Bledsoe?

Probably because they knew Boston had no leverage n they knew they didn't have to sweeten the deal. The clippers are entering year 3 as the best team in l.a. n doc will ensure they continue to dominate that city.

Didn't matter much either way. Stern and the NBA were adamant that any trade involving coaches AND players is a big no-no and wouldn't be allowed.

Isn't Stern retired yet?

Why does Stern care? He won't even allow a separate deal.

Boston and Brooklyn discussing a blockbuster deal that would send Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce to Nets, league sources tell Y! Sports.

What in the world is Brooklyn going to send their way?

I would take Humphries just because he's an expiring deal, but the rest of Brooklyn is just loaded with bad contracts. Are they going to take back Joe Johnson, Wallace, or Williams? I guess Brook Lopez would be a nice piece to acquire.

So if this happens:

Lopez - C
Garnett - PF
Pierce - SF
Johnson - SG
Williams - PG

Not bad, but I don't see how all those guys can share the ball.

Thomas Robinson to the Bulls for the Korver trade exception.

Bill Simmons is too emotionally tied to these guys. They are both done and two if not three of these picks will be in lottery.

Call me crazy, but I kinda sorta like the Nets' new lineup, especially since Garnett and Pierce are only going to be secondary scorers behind Williams, Johnson, and Lopez. It'd be much different if they were going to be expected to put be primary shot makers. I don't think this makes them championship favorites, but the lineup does seem intriguing. I'd be more confident if they had an established coach around.

They will be interesting. That makes the Kidd hire even more puzzling.

Very true. A good coach can get very creative with those starters for like the year or year and a half that KG and Pierce have left. You have established shooters at SG and SF, a PG who can drive, shoot, and set up others, and a PF and C who can score as well.

You're right about Lopez, and I don't disagree with everything else. I'm not anointing them as favorites or anything, I'm just considering the possibility that they could be somewhat effective. But a lot of things would have to go right, and it's hard to see that happen.

The deal doesn't bridge the gap with the Heat, Pacers & Bulls. I probably would've made this deal...before the Nets relocated from New Jersey a year ago.

On the other hand, they did get the expected #1 pick in the Draft with Noel, along with a possible lottery pick next year.

I wonder what the Pelicans do with Grievis Vasquez? I like him a lot.

jrue was a real set piece, someone to build a franchise around. getting noel looks like another decision in a long line of big athletes with injury problems. happened with brand, bynum, and i don't see a bright future with this kid, either.

the only logic i can make is that the sixers knew they were in rebuilding mode without a real moves to rebuild. so they had to trade away their most talented player in order to secure future picks that they can build a team with. i just don't think you start with big men anymore, unless they are healthy, have good coordination and have some dynamic other than low post presence.

The Lakers really need a billboard begging Dwight Howard to stay? It should read: "Leave. We're the Lakers."

 that is great.

I could not believe when I saw there was a billboard wanting Dwight to stay.

That is some weak shit right there.

Because of this bush league stupidity, I now hope the Lakers fail at everything they do this offseason.

If the reports about him leaving are true, then someone has to be held accountable for the D'Antoni hire. Not only did the hire destroy the Lakers' chances last year, it also meant watching Howard walk away for nothing.

The Lakers are hoping he leaves. They just hope they get some picks and probably a trade exception for it.

With all this movement I still sit in confusion and wonder why the only team not able to manipulate their cap and move shit are the Bulls?

Well that maybe part of it, but in fairness to the Bulls a lot of the movement is just people trading shit for shit. I am not interested in seeing them make moves just to make moves.

The Bulls don't need to. They're sitting pretty. They'll be a contender next season and a major player next off season.

True. I think they'll be better than a healthy Knicks team. IMO Brook Lopez will be their best player.
