So which dumbass team gives this guy a max or near max deal? Which will in turn guarantee them the lottery the duration of his contract?

Andrew Bynum didn’t play a single game for the Sixers last year, due to knee injuries that kept him from basketball for the entire season.

Bynum is now an unrestricted free agent, but the likelihood of Philadelphia coming through with the dollars it will take to sign him is minimal, at best. The team’s new GM Sam Hinkie said as much during his introductory press conference.

“I think of Andrew like the thousands of other young men walking around the world that are unrestricted free agents that have potential to play NBA basketball,” Hinkie said. “He is one of those. I’m duty bound to consider them and look at them. All of them.”

Not exactly a ringing endorsement.

As Bynum prepares to sell another team on his services, questions about his health and history of injuries are bound to come up. But while Bynum and his agent are happy to divulge any medical information surrounding the big man, the All-Star center won’t be showing off what he can currently do physically for any of the interested teams.

From Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports:

Bynum’s agent, David Lee, said his Bynum will begin training in July in Atlanta in preparation for next season after completing his rehabilitation from knee surgery. The knee injury caused Bynum to miss the entire 2012-13 season with the Sixers. Lee said there are a “half dozen teams” interested in Bynum and they will be given MRI and other needed medical reports. Bynum, however, will not work out for teams.

This position is understandable, at least to a certain extent.

Bynum has proven himself at the NBA level, and if doctors have cleared him to play and MRI results show no lingering issues, then teams should be willing to make offers based on the available information.

Something tells me, however, that this is just a way for Bynum’s camp to make it known publicly that he won’t be going on a pre-draft-like tour of teams to try to convince them of his long-term ability to contribute to an NBA franchise.

If a particular team comes calling with a max contract offer that Bynum is interested in accepting, it’s more than likely that a private workout would be granted under the right circumstances.

He has the potential to play basketball, that is correct, that's a great position for the franchise to be in considering how much they paid this fucking bum.

He is toast, 76ers made an absolutely terrible move by signing a big man with a oft-injured/surgically repaired lower body....not good. No wonder why Doug Collins was stroking out on the sidelines last year. He probably has the insides of a 150 year old dead guy.

I have no pity for the Sixers. They brought this on themselves.

Follow the dumb and desperate GMs: Dumars, Billy King might be interested despite a capped out roster and an incumbent center, Isaiah Thomas even though he's not currently with a team, he's likely interested, etc. I would say Jordan but I don't think he's gotten around to reading the free agent list just yet.

Oh, indeed. You don't give a big man, with that sort of compressed injury history, the franchise money. It's that simple, but they went ahead and did it anyways and now they are fucked.

Jesus, they gave him the treasure chest and long contract even before he was really healthy or at least before he could fake being healthy. And now, if the rumor/trade thread is to be believed they may have to start dismantling the team to start fresh...and that includes trading Holiday which apparently they just did...for Noel....another big man.

Sweet Jesus.

Detroit would be stupid enough to overpay for him, and they have the cap space to do it. I don't think Bynum would go there now. The Pistons are probably the worst franchise in the league at the moment. Even the Bobcats are probably run better.

I forgot David Kahn. He'd be down for Bynum too. Probably wouldn't cause a fuss over this whole workout thing either. I wish he were still in Minnesota so he could trade Love to Chicago.

I think it's a decently safe bet to take that Bynum probably will never play more than 25% of a total season again.

I'd have to disagree with that. I'd much rather have the Pistons roster and front office going forward than the Bobcats.

yeah i agree....Drummond has shown some some good promise in limited time...
Knight is solid of course, Monroe is ok
it's not stacked by any means but i'd take that over Charlotte , especially with their bungling GM and draft situation
