well...now that you asked, you must not be aware of these issues.

They (Maybe AZ?) wish to acquire a veteran player to come off the bench for a playoff game.

While I am sure that is not Paulies goal as a player, it wasnt Gracies either...and that guy became an AZ legend. even with 2 DUI's they still love the guy.

I would take Paulie as a pinch hitter above most in a critical situation.

As I said, I would not expect to get much for him, but I cant believe that any player would say NO to a trade to a warm weather team where he has a house and they are in a playoff run while his team is done in June and you can expect nothing but empty parks and criticism from media members.

The Sale issue might be about Hahn. That extension was his deal. He originated it, to trade the guy 4 months later shows no foresight and he knows this is not what Jerry wants.

Maybe Jerry needs to keep him to pose for the Statue?

Personally, I don't see Arizona, which has something like an $89,000,000 payroll, giving $6 milliion to a pinch hitter for the rest of the season. And I don't see the White Sox paying part of Konerko's salary to unload him, especially in return for the below-average prospects they'd get in trade.

Sale, Rios, Reed, Danks, Ramirez, Viciedo and Crain are the guys the Sox need to move.

Why would anyone want Viciedo? Dude is terrible at virtually every baseball skill.

Midge - why do you want them to trade Sale so badly? Aren't guys like him difficult to acquire?

I think we fundamentally disagree on the state of the White Sox. From what I can gather, the minor league system needs a major influx of talent. And the major league roster is deeply flawed. This thing needs to be blown up right away. Your views are more optimistic, I know. I respect your opinion but disagree.

I'm very surprised they haven't been able to trade anyone yet... I guess the buyers in the market aren't desperate enough to pay the sellers (White sox) price.

I think you have to keep sale, his price is reasonable, he's still young enough that he could be around for the end of his contract.... now as to why he would be throwing 120+ pitches right now trying to win meaningless games..... I have no idea.

Guys who might have value to another team if the sox eat most of their remaining contracts:

Rios, Ramirez, dunn, konerko, peavy, keppinger, de aza

Guys I think actually have value w/o eating the contract:

crain, thornton, lindstrom

I don't see a reason to move Reed, he's still young and isn't getting paid big $ yet. Plus I don't think he is going to get you any blue chippers in return.

I understand why you would keep Sale. But other than that I think you have to be willing to trade everyone on the roster. And hell if someone blows you away with a deal for Sale then you let him go as well.

I don't think it's being optimistic as much as I don't believe in blowing something up and trading guys just to trade them especially when their value is low. There are definitely guys that have to be moved but some of them are young/cheap enough to hang on to and see if they can turn it around and reach their potential.

Having a minor league system the so called experts love is nice and all but not essential to winning the World Series.

You could probably unload Paulie to the Yankees since Texiera is out for the year.

Knowing the count, how many outs there are, having a catcher that is actually able to stop a ball from going the backstop, and throwing the ball to first base is.

The Sox have trouble with at least 2 of the above every game. Even if the Sox move guys just to move them, what exactly are they blowing up? This team could lose 100 games. Why not blow it up?

Oh, and might as well blow up some of the coaching staff too.

Most if not all of that goes away if they replace a few players. De Aza, Alexei and Flowers. No reason to throw the baby out with the bath water.

Beckham has forgotten the count, took off from 2nd base with less than 2 outs, and ran into his 3rd basement who was camped under an easy popup all since he has come off the DL. Why do you refuse to hold him accountable?

The Sox are still well below .500 if the 2 guys you listed are gone.

I think you'd be more likely to move Ramirez to them and when Jeter comes back he could go over to first.

Beckham is a utility infielder. Thinking he is more is fantasyland.

Beckham falls into the young/cheap category. His play has been very disappointing since coming back from the DL despite him hitting the ball very well. I don't think these miscues will continue.

Any Sox fan can't deny they thought they had a future All Star after this kids first year. Admit it. No reason not to.

The league caught up to him and now he is Matt Stairs. He will have his good at bats against bad pitchers, he is basebally, people will like the guy, but he is just another guy you can replace with 25 guys from the DR.

 Normally you are bad, but you are exceptionally bad in this thread bigfan.
There was no reason NOT to think that Beckham was going to be an All Star after his rookie year.

At this point, the career of Matt Stairs is light years ahead of the career of Gordon Beckham. Stairs played 19 years in the league (albeit as mainly a pinch hitter at the end of his career), hit 265 HRs and 899 RBIs.

Stairs was also an outfielder and 1st baseman.

Normally you are just stupid but in this thread you have taken it to a new level, as what you said is what I did say

"Admit it. No reason not to."

And the fact you need to tell me what position Stairs played and thus Beckham cant be stairs just continues to display how dumb you really are, as the point was the Beckham will continually get picked up by other teams for 15+ years. He will become a utility IF and just hang around for years bating .260. The way MATT STAIRS DID. Oh wait, Stairs batted .265? Thats totally different!

Your stupidity is now taken to a whole new level.

How about the fact Stairs and Beckham dont weigh the same? Maybe they wear different size shoes? I have a feeling we can keep finding stuff that shows everyone they are not the same. Ya know Frank, like your favorite game , WHICH ONE OF THESE THINGS IS NOT LIKE THE OTHER

Do you really get paid minimum wage to sit behind a counter all day and try to find issues with everyone of my posts, because if you don't, it sure seems it might be your one and only calling in life.

That was a long time ago and I wish he could hit like Matt Stairs.

not WAR, WAA.

Rios #20 RF in MLB in weighted OBA. Somehow his defense brings him up to #8 in WAR. Not sure how that is possible.
