Deng and the Charlotte pick for Aldridge?

Done.

But I doubt that will be enough to get it done, but I would do that in a heartbeat.

I'd be willing to part with Taj and/or Mirotic also. Preferably Taj.

Do you all think Alderidge is worth that much? Aside from the position difference, don't they bring the same goods to their respective teams? Is he that much better than Deng, or is it more accurate to say they share the same type of talent-level: above average skills, good worth ethic, but not game changers. Honest question, I don't know a great deal about Alderidge outside of the fact that he's a 20+ and 10 guy. But I never got the impression he was as valuable as someone like Kevin Love. Would love to be edumacated here.

Love is better, but Aldridge is not too far below him.

Aldridge can create his own shot. Isn't that always the biggest criticism of Deng? Deng plays like a role player far too often, you can always tell Aldridge is one of the main guys on the court when he's out there. He's probably a top 15-20 player. He's definitely worth Deng and the Charlotte pick.

I don't think he is as valuable as Love, but I don't think he is that far off from Love.

He is a proven scorer and would give the Bulls someone that can take pressure off of Rose in ways other guys have not been able to consistently do.

Rose, Butler, Aldridge, Noah is a way more dangerous team than Rose, Deng, Boozer and Noah IMO

Thanks. I'm guessing Deng won't be enough, and certainly not Boozer despite KS' great find regarding quotes from Stotts and the GM.

I've argued elsewhere that the Bulls need to move Noah to get back anything substantial in return, and it looks like any Aldridge trade will start with Noah, unfortunately. I say unfortunately because I'm not sure if Aldridge is worth it; seems to me like the Bulls will be running in place if the swap Aldridge for Noah. Plus, if they do Noah for Aldridge, would that hasten the amnesty of Boozer? Otherwise, where would Boozer play? Unless they start Aldridge at the center spot and keep Boozer at PF...

An Aldridge trade that involves Noah isn't worth it, IMO. No disrespect to Lamarcus, but I think a Noah package could land you something better elsewhere.

That was my initial reaction as well. Sending Deng is justified, but not sure about Noah, even after hearing the scouting report from FF and RFDC.

For the record, I'm talking about Deng and the Charlotte pick.

I'm not including Noah.

I think I'd be more worried about losing a guy like that if Thibs wasn't the coach. Players seem to respond to him and play hard for him. If Noah leaves, I wouldn't doubt Thibs ability to get the most out of his guys even without an energy guy like Noah.

Yep. And he's locked up on a more than fair contract and he loves playing here. He's extremely valuable.

But that's precisely why I think he needs to be traded. It's not that I want him to go because he's holding the Bulls back or something, it's just that if you want to alter the makeup of this team, he's the guy mot teams are going to request in a trade because of the value he brings. Theoretically, you're going to receive better players in a trade that involves Noah as opposed to one centered around Deng. As someone who thinks the Bulls are contenders with the current core, I can see why you wouldn't trade Noah. However, I think the team needs a shakeup, and Noah is the guy who will get the most in return.

I understand the past two seasons have been frustrating, but I'd be pretty pissed if they blew up the core of this team without getting a legit superstar back. They've only had one fair shot at contending with this core and that was three seasons ago now when they were still a lot more inexperienced. They deserve one real shot to win the title. Them having the best record two years in a row proves they are in the conversation.

Get rid of Noah and then spend the next decade looking for a guy like Noah.

Wow. Striking resemblance. I didn't even know Boozer had a brother who played ball.

I'd be more comfortable with their chances if they could get a guy who can create his own shot. I think in the in the time Paxson's been in charge, we've had like...five players who could get a shot anytime they wanted: Jalen Rose, Derrick Rose, a raw Jamal Crawford, Nate Robinson, and Jay Williams. To put that in perspective, BKN now has four players who can create in Williams, Pierce, Terry, and Johnson. That's not to say BKN is suddenly a contender, but just to point out the myriad options an offense can have with multiple creators.

I think this comes down to the question of replaceability. Irreplaceable players must have attributes that the majority of other players don't. Noah's strengths - his tenacity, energy, intelligence, defense, rebounding, passing - combine to form a very good player, but they're also qualities you can easily find elsewhere. The qualities might be distributed differently in some other player, but you can still replace most if not all of what Noah brings you.

And we just beat Brooklyn without our best player. Having extra And1 players is overrated. How many did the Spurs have? Or OKC? Two each I believe.

You can even mention Miami with two as well. The difference between Miami/OKC was their creators were top ten, or near top ten in the case of Wade, stars. I'd be happy with a guy who can do what Jason Terry or Jamal Crawford do.

Outside of maybe Dallas in 2011, what championship team relied on its star as much as the Bulls do with Rose? And even Dirk had a guy like Terry who could hold things down for most of a quarter. Do the Bulls have that guy?

That ^ being said, I must say I'm slowly coming around to your and Nas' way of thinking (and others?) about next year. I'd like to see what a healthy Rose can do with Deng, Butler, and Noah. The height of next season's ceiling probably depends on how dynamic Butler can be.

I don't think he'd welcome a backup center role after proving he could start in Houston. I see him as a career 10 and 12 guy with a couple blocks.
