At a Cubs game in early nineties, sitting 3/4 down the 3rd base about halfway up, Lenny Dykstra fouled one off onto the roof, rolled off the roof and floated down right into my hands. And popped right the fuck out and bounced away. My brother was with me and still gives me shit about it.

About two weeks ago, this kid hits a ball foul over the backstop and I caught it.

A guest invites me and Mrs. McBride to the game sitting 3rd base side on the tarp.
I lean over to make sure I don't look like a dope and fall on to the field and find I need to
prop myself up my right hand leaving all fielding to the left.

2nd batter fouls one down the line I'M leaning over pops right off the fucking left hand
Security guy flips it to me
What really sucked no kids to give it to. Sitting in the pub next to Konerko spring training ball

Got one from steve ontiveros against the expos in my first wrigley appearnce in the mid 70s. Foul ball into the first base side that the first guy had it spin out of his hands and bounced to me. Missed andy van slykes upper deck foul in the late 80s when some long arm mutant outereached my by 4 ft in wrigley. Coming right down but this guy was too tall to outjump.

Caught a foul ball as a kid at Comiskey.

I remember thinking what a true fan I was.

One-handed one from Sammy in the RF bleachers with a full beer in my other hand. Didn't spill a drop.

It was legendary. People still talk about it.

Do you think Dan Bernstein would think it's important?

I'd imagine people the world over.

BTW, if you'd asked me if there would be two unrelated mentions of Steve Ontiveros on the board today, I'd have bet against it.

There are no unrelated Ontiveros comments. This is only one outcome from the recent Bilderberg conference.

Closest I ever came was a line shot in '77 off the bat of the legendary Jorge Orta.

My otherwise great aunt held a young RR from diving over two rows in what was likely to be a vain & painfully empty attempt to grab a then $2 ball.

I was at a Twins game in Minnesota and one of the outfielders or relief pitchers threw a foul ball into the stands. There was a sea of hands that went up for it and I caught it barehanded. I want to say with my left hand. I immediately placed the ball in my pocket and did not show it to anyone at the game for fear of it being stolen.

I have never actually caught one. But I do own a homerun ball that was caught in the bleachers at Wrigley in the 80s. My neighbor across the street was a huge Cub fan and he went to a lot of games. He caught this ball and as a little boy I thought this was like the coolest thing ever. Everytime I saw him outside I would ask to see the ball. He died suddenly from a heart attack and his wife gave me the ball.

In Sept of 2000 I lived in the KC area and had a buddy come through town that wanted to check out a Royals game. They played the Angels that night and they were WAY out of contention. The weather was not great and so there was basically no one in the park. We had seats a little down from and behind the 3rd base dugout. He and I each got a foul ball that night of which one of them hit quite a bit above of us and it rolled down to our feet.

In 1992 or 1993 my Dad took me to a Sox daygame. We got there early so we could watch the guys warmup. Ozzie Guillen went out and started jogging and I asked him for a ball. He said his arm was sore and he couldn't throw that far. Later on just before the start of the game, him and Cora were playing catch in front of the dugout. He looked around and saw me still standing there, pointed at me, and threw the ball at me. Kid in front tried to get it, but he missed and I caught it.

I'm pretty sure I still have the ball somewhere. I think there are a couple signatures on it.
