The total tax payments in that sheet were almost $1B! Holy shit. If the idea is to redistribute that stuff to lower teams whay has the field been leveled?

I mean wow. I know many think 1st rounders out of the top half are no good and so on but are there really that few great NBA players?

In my view, the amount of extremely talented players in the NBA is obscured by an overabundance of teams. Players are spread out too thin over a landscape that's probably too large for its own good.

Wow, Mark Cuban can't catch a break. Is this the end of Dirk in Dallas? Why else would you stay at his age?

Mavs couldn't offer as much.

As far as that chart goes the Knicks and Blazers were fucking crazy.

The Blazers were legit contenders; the Knicks were definitely not contenders.

I still think my Dirk for Bosh deal is quite fair to both sides.

This is definitely intriguing, but I'm not sure if Miami would want to get older. Something inside me also tells me Dirk would hate being traded to Miami, but I don't know if he has veto power.

2002-03 was the last good year for the Pippen-Wallace-Steve Smith Blazers, who went to seven games vs the Lakers in the WC in 2000.

In 2002-03 they finished with 50 wins but lost in the first round to the Mavs in seven. They money they spent in the last years seems to be supporting the aging core that nearly led them to the finals in 2000.

That was a monumental 4th quarter collapse in 2000. It's still amazing how the Lakers pulled that game out.

Minnesota has emerged as a strong frontrunner to sign free agent Ronny Turiaf, league sources tell Y! Sports.

Is there really such a thing as a "strong frontrunner" when you're talking about Ronny Turiaf?

Ronny Turiaf is an all-star gif-er.

I'd love to have Turiaf coming off the bench for the Bulls. You could do alot worse (such as Nazr).

Teague isn't worth more than $5M/year. Teams get crazy with these average guys.

You're probably right but he's still better than Jennings.

i'll agree with you and KS I'll give you my thoughts right here it makes me feel dirty and gross going into that Bucks thread

I think Teague definitely has shown the ability to facilitate and run a team...definitely not a shoot first type of player. I guess his outside shooting could use some improvement but he's certainly respectable and scores enough to keep the defense honest. I do think for being a pretty solid free throw shooter, he could be getting to the line more than he does, maybe be a little more aggressive offensively. he's not a bad defender either. i just think the only aspect of the game Jennings is better than him is scoring...Jennings is just a scorer plain and simple. But Teague is a better distributor, better defender, runs the offense better

what was the offer sheet? I'd go a little higher than 5/yr FF, I think he could be worth 7 or 8
i kinda liken him to Terrell Brandon, I don't think his ceiling is super super high but he's a solid starter in the league and you could do a lot worse

I'm trying to think of a guy to compare him to and what his contract would be like. I just think if you're going higher than MLE type money, you need a guy that is at least above average at his position, and probably a threat to be an all star in the right season.

Edit: I don't know. I guess if Calderon is gonna make over $7 million a year then why the fuck not.

Kirilenko opted out of $10 mil for that?

I'm sensing some shenanigans.

Maybe he thinks he gets the luxury tax hit for his salary too.

I agree with Bagels on this one. I see Teague as an occasional borderline all-star. He was around 15 ppg and 7 assists this year, and I think he may have a couple 17 and 9 seasons before he's done.
