We're having a "golf doctor" on tomorrow to answer questions for weekend warriors who'd like to score better. Post a question here if you have one and I'll try to get a couple addressed. 11:00 hour I think.

I do have a golf problem. I don't find it at all interesting. And talking about golf is worse than watching it, which is infinitely worse that playing it.

Sometimes the golfing experience for everyone at the country club is dependent on the golf partnership of those that regularly tee off at 9 am. Bob Barker realized it would never work out with Happy Gilmore and they parted ways. I think the month that happened was July. July is a great month to get a new golf partner before the season is lost.

What's an easy way to make sure you're aligned correctly? There are times when I hit a shot left or right and someone will say "that's right where you were aiming".

Rest your club flat across both hips. Simply look where the club is pointing, and that's where you're aiming. Works for me, at least.

Neither does Mac.... he helped ship him out to "Hotlanta" where all those Damn Lucky boys get to get low down low and dirty with Tyler Perry, Usher, and the whole lot of 'em!

And of course, like my avatar says (and I hear Jason's FB proudly points out) LES IS STILL ON HOLD WAITING FOR HIS TURN TO TALK TO JASON GOFF:

Image

cuz seriously, you gotta wait for the good things in life..... like Jason Goff getting shipped out to Atlanta to do a show called "Mac and Jason" while he waits for Mac to retire so he can come back up here and get a gig!

</beardownhat>

Naw... I kid, I kid. I'd definitely hold the 2+ hours just to confirm that that Bosh and Wade package is imminent in Chicago. Technically, Goff never said when it's imminent, so methinks it's ~2015 or whatever, you know, when Lebron tries to go back and win in Cleveland in order to get his hometown cred back. Kind of like when Mac and Jason ends and then Jason can come back because there's no Mac holding him back in either Chicago or "Hotlanta."

Sorry, Mackeroo, I just can't help myself. Jason blocks me on twitter even if I never tweet @ him, and that's mainly because I called him out for transparently trying to condition his followers into creating an ALS (you know, what Bernstein does by making AT SCHMUTZIE UNDERSCORE and Maddux Boy his lieutenants, and then making sure that "only the good ones" get responses/retweets during crossword puzzle time) and well, man, I believe the movie Hackers said it plainly "mess with the best; die like the rest"

and is it not some awesome poetic justice that after pissing on the wrong fire hydrant, Jason gets sent off to "Hotlanta" where he does a show called "Mac and Jason" ??? Seriously, every day he gets to remember his place and why he's there.... you know, career advancement! hahahhaha * high 5 *

He'll probably just give some generic answer like citing the "Tee it Forward" program. Playing from the wrong tee box is not so much the problem as not playing ready golf, inefficient use of an electric cart, where to park the cart, 3+ practice swings on every shot (after waiting for previous guy to hit), people dicking around on the greens for waaaay too long, etc.

All of this, plus rangers who never say shit to anybody. Its up to them to move people along if the golfers aren't keeping pace themselves.

I'm slicing most of my drives. Irons and other shots go straight as an arrow. I seem to be trying to torque my hips too much...at least thats what it feels like when one really goes right. Is there a tip to try and help that or something to do in setup/addressing the ball?

I mistakenly read this at first as "Got a goff problem?"

Thought Mac was about to go off.

The first step is to make sure players tee off from the appropriate tee boxes. Second, the rangers need to be out doing their job, instead of bullshitting with their buddies.

What I don't like about golf is that it uses too much space. If a hole is a par 3, you're expected to clear it in three shots, but the first shot goes really far, so like all that space between the tee and where a ball hit with a 1-wood should reasonably land serves no purpose but to be well-manicured grass that no one can use for anything. What a fuck-you sport.

Ding ding. I can't stand when I see players dicking their tee shots 50-60 yards from the tee, yet they're playing from the tips.

When I am driving the cart, and we are pulling up to the green, I always park the cart pin high, no matter if I am on the green, or chipping. When walking off of a green, the cart should be right in line with the next hole.

Last year, my buddy and I were paired with another twosome, and these guys were slow as molasses. The one guy was constantly on his phone. They rarely hit a green with their irons, so they parked their cart where they were chipping from on every hole. After we completed the hole, they would walk anywhere from 20-50 yards back to their cart. It was ridiculous.

This was a few years ago. My dad and I were paired with two women at Old Orchard. We hit our approach shots on to the green. The women were still each at least 75-100 yards out. We're waiting near the green, since they were taking their sweet time. They ask us to mark our balls. Yes, they're 100 yards away and wanting us to mark our balls. We, for whatever reason, oblige then watch as each take 2-3 shots to get to the green. This went on a few more times. We weren't going anywhere, since the course was packed. So, rather than telling them that's not how it's done, I just laughed it off and would ask if they wanted me to mark after my tee shot landed.

Obviously this is course-specific, but I just don't see it as the biggest issue. Sure, if the tips are 100 yds. further back and/or there are 4/5 sets of tees, then yes. Even more so if there are things like forced carries. But if the back tees are only like 20 yds. back w/ 3 sets of tees, it really isn't the major problem some people make it out to be (in comparison to other time-wasters).
