He's got fans who by all rights should be irate as docile as kittens. That's a con man.

Here we go

Cub fans are the first fan base in history to go through a rebuild

It's one thing to go through a rebuild. It's another to blatantly tell your paying customers you're giving them a shit product on purpose and getting them to cheer on that concept.

So, its the honesty you have an issue with?

2 years to clean up a bloated roster and awful infrastructure is not crazy imo.

And the fans havent beens showing up have they?

That's nothing; you oughta see Lou Gehrig's.

No, it's that it's not honesty at all. Ricketts is pocketing the money that could go into making the big league product watchable for the fans who get their ticket prices raised every season. It's not like they had to lose 100 games in order to win some ambiguous future World Series. The fact that you believe that to be the case illustrates exactly how great a con man he really is.

What?

You're counting on Santiago and Quintana to pitch you to the playoffs?

Isn't that far more realistic than expecting Almora and Soler to hit you to a World Series?

Who is doing that?

Im certainly not. Also, we've seen quite a bit of the two pitchers and they're much older. The prospects are more of an unknown.

This is classic.

Sox fan cites barely medicore pitchers as a "set rotation"

Other Sox fan asks Cub fan to defend ridiculous statement no one made.

Cub fans are so dumb lolololol

The cries for help of Sox nation, all 18 of them.

Is Theo a genius, hell no, but he seems to be a really good baseball president who is hiring some really good people and thats what a President does, he hires good people (#CHANGE) then he leads and supports them to produce an improvement.

The Sox are going to really need to step up their game in the upcoming years to compete for what sliver of the fan base they have left.

The cubs are going to be a very likeable team. I am not talking fuzzt teddy bear likeable, but 'drinking buddy" likeable.

And you will hear the call of 'I have been a Sox fan for 32 years, but I have to admit I like this Cubs team, they seem to have some really good guys. This Bryant and Rizzo are what we need.

The cubs are playing the numbers, get as many prospects as you can and the odds are some will work out. It's not Rocket Surgery, but its still a good plan. Fact is Jerry will never dump that kind of cash into his system to do the same thing and the Sox will be right back to buying journeyman, castoffs and players coming off injury, shopping in the closeout section.

I don't think anyone believes that in the black and white sense that you illustrate there. I do believe that saving money on the big club (no glory in winning 85 games etc) can help lead to a World Series when that money is reallocated to Latin American baseball clinics, International and Amateur Drafts, Improving Wrigley so it makes the team more profitable etc. Obviously nothing is guaranteed, but recent history is teaching us that going ape shit on free agents tends to not work.

Dont tell me what I believe or that Ive been conned. That's fucking insulting. I know as much about baseball as you do, so dont try your superiority shit on me

I know they could have made you happy by signing a few FA's and winning 83 games and that would have been super awesome for the season ticket holder.

I understand that. That is not a difficult concept to understand. You know I know baseball and know this.

This is evidence that your Anti Cub bias has completely taken over the part of your brain that rationally discusses baseball so you're just saying stupid things that make no sense.

No, Ive not been conned. Im realistic about this teams chances of winning anything in 2012 or 2013. I also think Theo Epstein has been a pretty good Gm and Im willing to give him some time to figure it out (like any rationally thinking fan would)

I know you're dying for that to somehow translate into "WooHoo Soler and Bryant Rule! and Theo is God" for your arguments here, but it never will, no matter how many times you try.

The Cubbie Kool Aid Sox fan hate so much is something the Sox lack. It is called expectations and hope.

When your mantra to start a season is 'I'll show you we dont suck"...not exactly a great marketing slogan

Those "really good people" were the architects of some really bad Padre baseball and got out of town before they were run out on a rail.

How did Hope work out the last time it was peddled to the masses in 2008?

I dont get how Sox fans get a pass with this stuff. You have a team heading towards 95 losses and here you have an educated fan explaining how good and young the rotation is.

and yet, there they are, producing at the major league level for the second year in a row...funny how the game works

I predict the Sox win a division title before the Cubs do.

We've seen the Sox have bad years before and bounce back. Now, they've got a lot of work to do but so do a majority of teams in MLB.

That's an interesting question. I know the popular line is that Hendry sucks and that may be correct. However, he did have pretty good success when you look at it objectively.

I thought we needed to look past wins and losses especially when judging the future.

By the same logic, isn't Theo's plan failing?

I guess he was successful.....if you apply the absolute lowest bar of what is successful which unfortunately applies to this franchise. And if you have an unlimited payroll to spend your way out of bad drafts after bad drafts.

Quintana is still on a tight rope and Santiago has been up and down.

To call that rotation "set at 1-4" is doing a KegStand of White Sox Kool-Aid

No you have that wrong.

Anyway, Im not referring to their specific W-L records. Im saying the team they're on is awful, so to say they are producing is crazy.

No they are not well backed. You're using Bernstein (irrational love of Theo), Holmes (irrational love of Bernstein) and WGN (radio broadcast partner of the Cubs). I don't defend any of these guys. Unfortunately, all three of those sources have a lot of influence being on the two biggest sports stations in Chicago.

But, whatevs, trolls gotta troll. :D

Hendry will always be a complicated case. Successful on the MLB front, but an abject failure in terms of the minors and development. How much of that can be blamed on him and what should be blamed on Tribune Co./Zell etc is certainly up for debate.
