And at this point in time, the Mavs are no closer to doing anything significant than the damn Bucks are.

Correct, see we can agree on something.

Now, can you put a good word to Don for me please?

People around the NBA on the Kirilenko deal:

Within the NBA, there had long been those promising that deals would start popping up involving Prokhorov that made no fiscal sense, theorizing that high-end players could take less within the constraints of the salary cap and still make up the difference in clandestine pacts.

“Brazen,” one Western Conference GM told Yahoo! Sports.”Let’s see if the league has any credibility,” one NBA owner told Yahoo! Sports. “It’s not about stopping it. It’s about punishing them if they’re doing it.”Another Eastern Conference GM: “There should be a probe. How obvious is it?”The telephone calls and text messages kept coming on Thursday night and Friday morning, and the reason was simple: Few trust Prokhorov to honor the NBA’s salary-cap rules and regulations. He made his $15 billion fortune in the wild 1990s in Russia in what he called, “cowboy territory with no sheriff.” Bribes were part of the business culture, and Prokhorov confessed to his part in it.

Not sure if I like the connections between possible collusion and his national background. Didn't James and Wade take less to sign with Miami? And apparently Ellis just took less to sign with Dallas. Is this the first time someone has taken substantially less money to sign with a supposed contender? I'm not trying to definitively refute these allegations, if that's what they are, but only wondering if this sort of judgment is unfair at the moment to make.

None of them opted out of a contract in order to take 1/3 of the money they were going to make. He's not going to start either. I can see why some teams would be suspicious.

Maybe he owed the Russian mob a lot of cash and this was the way to get all of it taken care of.

Do you all see this as yet another above-average/semi-star player chasing brighter lights in a bigger city, even it means absorbing a financial loss?

To be perfectly honest, I see it as Monta severely miscalculating his market.

Which is why he fired his agent.

The Nets are going to be really good next season. Kirilenko can spell KG and Pierce at both positions, if necessary. Actually, the optimal lineup would probably be Deron, Joe, AK, KG, Brook, with Pierce as the best 6th man in the league. Adding KG and Kirilenko solves a huge chunk of their defensive problems.

I've said before that I'm intrigued by the roster, but Kidd has to figure out a lot of things on the fly to make things interesting next year. I know he's got his guy on the coaching staff, but ultimately he's going to have to make the call on the rotation, putting guys like Pierce and Johnson in spots that make the most use of their abilities, determining who to feature at the end of close games if you need one shot, and managing the minutes of all the former Celtics. This is in addition to all the pressure he'll face off the court from management, media, etc. If King knew they were likely to get Pierce, Terry, and KG in a trade before they hired Kidd, then I don't know why you don't go after a proven veteran HC like Karl. Perhaps they did and I just don't know, but a veteran coach makes sense with this kind of roster, to state the obvious.

With a better coach or lead assistant I would probably put them in the top 2. They're still #4 on my list.

I really hope Dan was being sarcastic, but unfortunately he probably was sincere. Kind of hard to win a title without PLAYERS Dan and that STUD still in Miami

Did anyone else see the pics of him leaving the bench of a summer league game to answer his phone?

That's not why the Harden trade happened. They wouldn't have kept all four guys in the previous CBA either. The Harden trade happened because Presti very stupidly thought Ibaka was a more important player.

That Harden trade has indirectly made me the biggest T-Wolves fan in the world heading into this upcoming season.

We're gonna make the playoffs with the 7th seed. Love's coming back. Rubio's a year removed from his injury. Got my guy K-Mart finally playing in a system with a point guard that won't throw up 30 shots a night. Career year for Kevin Martin. Watch.

So Aaron Brooks was holding Martin back?

The Wolves will battle for a playoff spot. But outside of the Lakers, I don't see any other Western team easily falling out, and the Rockets, Blazers, and Wolves all want to get in.
