Especially when the NL Central has been the worst division over the past decade, by far.

That's not really true.

I guess the youth movement got them excited in Pittsburgh for the last 20 seasons of major suckage, too. The fact is,Ricketts in 4 years has brought the major league franchise to all time low depths. I don't give a rat's ass about any plan,I'm just looking at FACTS. The idea is to have a great MAJOR league team. I don't give a shit they signed young "Flori Cruz" who might pop up in the year 2017. FUCK THAT!

I think Hendry is overrated.

Sure he pulled off that goofy trade to get Karros and Grudzelanek. Lee and Ramirez were fine acquisitions, but they were defacto free agent signings (salary dumps from their old teams). The 2003 team won due to Prior, Wood, and Zambrano, and I don't think any of those were his draft picks (though I suppose he might have been a scout when they were drafted?) Despite all those players, only one division was won. Then they floundered for three years until Sam Zell said here's $300 million, go spend it all. That got Hendry two division titles in a weak division, and completely broke the franchise for at least the next six years.

All that doesn't make for a strong resume in my world.

yeah, I think the Lofton acquisition had a ton to do with that team being so good. Look at their runs scored in the first inning of each game after that pickup. And they gave up Bobby Hill, a sad sack second baseman. I'll always be a Hendry fan, despite Soriano.

Zambrano came off a boat, not a draft board.

The Cubs have had just 2 draft classes since Theo/Jed took over. It takes most players drafted 3-4 years to reach the major leagues. Some like Bryant, are likely to make it quicker than that. But to think this rebuilding might be near completion already is stupid. Trades for guys including Rizzo, have helped to speed the process up. Drafting of international players(including Soler) , should be a great help too. But it's likely to be 2015 that this team begins to truly come together. But after that, it should be a team that has sustained success, rather than contending once every 4-5 years or so. The plan is a good one and other than a stupid signing of Edwin Jackson, the management team has done a good job of sticking to that plan.

I think most fans are willing to give him a few years to see. What Epstein can accomplish. Me, personally .. I have not gone yo a game, bought any merchandise or supported this shit in 6-7 years.

You are jealous because you see all the experts rave about the young players the Cubs have traded for, drafted and signed from the international classes and know it's only a matter of a couple years before the Cubs are contending every year. It's only a few years more until they can get themselves a new TV deal too and when that happens, the money pouring in is going to be amazing. Between the rebuilt ballpark, with all the signage and a new TV deal, they will be able to afford to be one of the highest spending teams in baseball. With a well stocked farm system, home grown major league talent and buckets of money to spend on the occasional free agent, it's going to be baseball heaven. Reinsdorf see's it all coming. That's why he has already spoke of his kids selling the team. Once the Cubs young players mature into major league stars, the strangle-hold the Cubs have on Chicago will only get tighter. The south side team will be lucky to draw half the fans the Cubs draw at that point. It's all going to happen. It's just a couple years away from beginning.

Seriously that was the craziest thing Ive ever heard

B and B dont talk that highly of The Heat right now.

Dominant team at the back end of this decade? Is this guy a Heckler writer?

I would say podcast the segment. It's THAT crazy.

If this guy was talking about the Bulls in the 90's he'd be a little too optimistic

The Sheehan interview was awesome. Bernstein and Sheehan are the two smartest know-it-all guys I hear on the Score. They pretty much guaranteed a World Series in 2016-2019.

I already took a week vacation at Oct/Nov for the parade. Early bird gets the worm. 8)
