Put two more in New York but the Mets and Yankees aren't going for that.
Not just New York. They can block any minor league team within 75 miles of either stadium. That covers a massive amount of people.

The World Series thing shouldn't make it mean less. It actually makes it mean more. The problem is the managers aren't really playing to win. They're getting the guys in and everyone is having fun. It's like a hybrid of an exhibition and a real game. That's why a set-up man who didn't do anything in the game a bunch of other guys didn't do just as well could win the MVP.

But who got the win?

San Antonio seems like it has the population and the baseball interest to make it work, and it would give the Rangers an AL team to play with so the Astros could go back to their league. Overall, though, I don't think demand for baseball is going up. Down, in fact.

Yeah, it probably makes more sense to contract than expand. Start by eliminating the two Florida teams.

I don't really have a problem with the All-Star game being a showcase for the individual abilities of the stars like the NBA or NHL games, but I do agree with what Hatchetman touched on earlier in that the thing that has always made baseball's game special is that it looked and played like an actual real game, not just a bunch of guys showboating. I think the golden age of the All_star game is back in the 50s and 60s when the NL was dominating with pretty much a set line-up. You knew Willie was leading off and playing center. The players cared so the game mattered. It didn't require manufactured competition. I hated when Frank left in the middle of the game. If that fat fuck doesn't care, why should I?

This is kinda where I stand on all this. Thanks JORR for explaining my feelings so eloquently.

You do not need to bash, but you need to report. KC is like ZZ, everything is OK, nothing to see here, all positive....blah blah.

Are they talking about Derrick Rose and the doctors again? If so, I won't bother tuning in.

Bernsie basically came out and said yesterday that one of his sources is somebody from the medical team.

Lyrically elite high end metal. Back in the day, Iron Maiden fit that bill, but I don't know if it was really true.

Not trying to denigrate the average athlete, but who in hell knows what a guy is talking about when he starts talking about his suppositions and thesises?

the gist as beni heard it.

Back in the day the beat writers would chat with the columnists and keep them on point...so they wouldn't say something that was patently wrong, but couldn't be reported. So they don't understand why Haugh is writing stupid stuff unless he isn't talking to KC. Cause KC gotta know what is up, but can't report on it without losing access to the team. KC is kind of hamstrung, but should be able to get his story out through the columnists. Doesn't seem to be happening that way.

A fun game is to turn it on when Terry is speaking and see how long he goes without mentioning the subject

Not Jorr-ish but something like

Yeah...that guy...Im just not sure...I mean, yeah you wanna say he proved it, fine...i just dont see it...in my world....where that is something you can count on....and its just not...no...no....not that thing...and not that guy

Oddly enough KC is about the only guy who still talks to B&B.

In this instance, they really aren't hammering KC. They are hammering Haugh and the Trib I guess for not at least comparing notes before filing a story that B&B was incredibly off base.

They haven't named it. They did lead off the show mentioning the riff between Gar and Thibs. Haugh wrote something on that on 7/2/2013 which I chose not to read. He also wrote a piece on keeping Garza on 7/15/2013. If anything, that would be the article to pillory. They have had PWSullivan stating that Garza should be gone, and TheoYer wants him gone.

All beni's got.

I hate this whole idea that superstars are only going to play for Texas and Florida teams because there's no state income tax and there's not a fishbowl. Will Leitch wrote a stupid article to this effect last week. People will still want to play for the Lakers, Yankees, whatever. But I guess everything is about brand-building in GUANGZHOOOUUUUU and creating generational wealth. California's too expensive! :(

I'm no income tax expert but my hazy memory of school seems to recall that tax is taken in the state the money is earned. So while those players may realize some tax benefits, they are going to be paying an income tax 50% of the time for the away games.

Now this makes me wonder if an enterprising agent could design the contract to so that the player only earns salary for dates his player is working in a non income tax state.

I'm sure all those details are standardized in CBA negotiations.

City and state taxes for something like 20 of the 24 states that host professional sports franchises, maybe all of them by now.

Enterprising tax-fraud agents are probably hard to find.

Tax auditors are going to question why someone would demand payment in one location but, coincidentally, work for free here in their state while performing the same task.

With states like Illinois looking under every rock, good luck with that argument.
