by derrick rose himself! wow!

In an interview with CNN’s Pedro Pinto, the Chicago Bulls star did not hesitate when asked who he thinks is the best player in the NBA.

“Derrick Rose,” the 2011 MVP said.

the whole article is riveting, actually. it might take a half hour to get through it, but im glad fox sports is neck deep in quality journalism.

I remember Paul Pierce said the same thing in 2008 right after he won the championship. This was when guys like Kobe and Duncan were still big-time players, in addition to Wade, James, etc. Both proclamations are equally laughable. Rose's statement is a bit more embarrassing since he hasn't done anything in over a year. At least Pierce said it while he was on top of the NBA world.

"Why not me?" was laughable too until it became reality. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with this.

Ike's Derrick Rose Blood Feud is the most entertaining part of the Basketball offseason so far. What does everyone think of Tony Snell. He is a weird looking dude.

The guy leaves town, talks to every international media guy in the world and he is an open book about when he is coming back, if he is coming back, etc etc.

When he is here, I cant get a legit mumble from him other than his love of god?

I don't have a problem per se, I just think he's flat out wrong. You've got LBJ and KD at the top, both of whom won't be challenged any time soon. And I'm not sure if Rose is the top PG anymore, unless he proves himself again. Westbrook and Irving are legitimate threats to Rose's PG supremacy, and Paul is always around.

Tony Parker is the best PG in the league right now

I've always liked him and see him as "in the conversation" for top PGs, but never saw him as THE best point guard. I always wondered why he never developed his three point shot to the point where he could become a threat from deep, and I think is defense is unremarkable. He's still good, but I'm probably taking Paul before him.

It will be intersting to see what Paul can do now that he is away from Our Coach Vinny

Iirc, Rose and Parker regularly outplay Paul heads up. I don't think Rose is far at all from Durant. Obviously we will know a lot more this year.

Two years ago, Rose was the best PG in the league and Farvio is correct as I don't remember Paul ever having an outstanding game head-to-head against Rose. I see no reason why Rose can't return to that form.

It'll be very interesting to see Rose and Kyrie match up, since they still have yet to face each other.

I am just looking forward to an Andrew Bynum vs. Nazr Mohammad battle. Do you think the Bulls are going to land Camby?

Well, they landed Antonio Davis when he was past his prime too. I don't see any reason why they can't bring in Camby to also do nothing of note.

I see Rose and Parker as scoring point guards, and while Paul can certainly score, his brilliance is on full display as a playmaker. I agree that Rose was the better of the two in 2010 and 2011, and hopefully he'll return to that form this year.

Even if Rose returns to MVP form, I still don't think he'll be as good as Durant, mainly for reasons beyond Rose's control. With Durant's height and wingspan, not to mention the agility and athleticism that's almost unfair for a guy his size, he can get any shot anytime he wants.

Durant is clearly the 2nd best player in the league and Rose isn't in the top 10. Wake me when he plays again.

Rose once again proves how naive (or stupid) he is when it comes to PR.

Get your ass on the court buddy before you talk shit.

Shit like this proves how naive or stupid fans are. If he was asked if he was the best player in the league should he say no, LeBron is better? Then he would be getting roasted for that and people would say he's still scared of LeBron. I guess he could give the cliche answer and say that that's for the media to talk about and players don't think that way, but that's not honest.

I agree it doesn't look good coming back from missing the entire year, but it will not look bad at all if he comes out this year and has an MVP type season and leads the Bulls to 60+ wins once again.

People respect the truth. LeBron is clearly the MVP and the best player and by saying as such, Rose pays respect to the games elite player.

What does he do? He says he is the best. If I remember right Lebron shut his ass down big time in the playoffs.

Rose needs to shut his fucking mouth and focus on regaining his game and getting back to an elite status.

Yeah, that'd be nice. That's not the only thing I'm judging his season by though.

LBJ is the best in the league, hands down.

I'm appalled by the lack of Stephen Curry love on this board.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go double-click my mouse.

I think even with a year off you can easily throw him in there based on skill alone. He hasn't suddenly forgotten how to play basketball.

It's funny because when we last saw him play he was no worse than the 3rd best player in the league, and like Kid said, I doubt he forgot how to play basketball. If he plays 70+ games this year he will be on the All NBA first team and probably top 3 in MVP voting.
