I think it was about that time ('06) when I got my Gateway laptop & I'll tell you, Gateways are a P.O.S.
Mine, ever since I first got it occassionally gets the BSOD. However, it's not the normal BSOD, but one in which all the text is jumbled.
I honestly think it could have something to do w/ overheating, because this bitch gets hot.
Early in my GT's life span it overheated a lot so I had to just remove the side cover to get enough ventilation as the vents in it weren't big enough. It would shut itself down every once and a while until I took the plate off....actually, the 8500GT that it came with got so hot that the fan connections mounted to the heat sink melted and the fan no longer worked. When I would play a game like Rome: Total War every 15 minutes the game would start to stutter, at first I thought it was just a bug or a weak graphics card or something, but it was because the card overheated and downclocked itself or something.
As for you, Phil, the Gateway 23 inch that came with it is kinda crap, as well. It almost never comes out of sleep mode without me having to plug and unplug the power cord. Sometimes that doesn't work so I have to plug and unplug the HDMI cord. When I work from home my morning always starts out with me saying a small prayer.
Christ, what the fuck happened to Gateway and HP for the matter. They start to chase the stock price, cut R&D, cut material component quality, cut service and cut head count to chase the stock valuation rabbit. Funny thing is you can just build your own with better components that will actually last for cheaper than one of those big box jobs. Oh, and FUCK HP PRINTERS, pieces of fucking shit, fuck fuck fuck. Never buying HP again, fuck them. Printers are shit, laptops are TOTAL SHIT and their other hardware is garbage. Fuck em.
Fuck 'em.
