Asked with no comments, which team at this point got the better return?

Sox:
Avisail Garcia
Cleuluis Rondon
Francellis Montas
Jeffrey Wendelken

Cubs:
Mike Olt
Justin Grimm
C.J. Edwards
PTBNL
2nd PTBNL is the first is not Neil Ramirez

Apples vs oranges, team control vs a rental and let's be honest, prospects are suspects. I think Garcia seems most likely to be at least decent but Grimm may also be a #5 type guy too and Olt seems like he can at least go deep consistently and pick it a little at a premium position so gotta go Cubs given they garnered this return for a 2+ month rental.

Disagree on Apples vs. Oranges. The team control that Jake provides I'm sure factored into the return. It's all part of the equation.

They're both equal right now.

If the Cubs get the 2nd PTBNL, then Theo wins.

5> 4.

Garza. Not close. @frankieaaron:Peavy or Garza: which return would you say is better? #Cubs #WhiteSox

I don't feel as strongly.

I think what gives the Cubs the advantage at this point is that some of the prospects that got back in the Garza deal could be used in trades to get other/better prospects or some actual MLB talent.

It sounds like Garcia has some good raw power but a bad approach to hitting. He will definitely run into some at the Cell but he needs to work the mental approach to each AB. You aren't going to get a heater right down the dick every AB so he best work on coming up with a plan for each pitcher and situation instead of hacking.

Actual MLB talent? Theo & Hoyer want to keep flipping because it buys them time on judgement day. You can't judge the job they are doing because these guys are not due to the majors until 2015. It's the greatest con job in the history of Chicago sports. Will they be flipping next year too? FLIP THIS!

Jed Hoyer: "The 2014 season, there’s not going to be a lot of young players breaking camp with the team. I think next year, some of those guys will still be developing, but they’re getting toward that stage where they’re in the conversation for our future. Right now, you can’t put those names in stone and going forward."

It's not right or wrong jimmy.

Their philosophy was obviously to be as bad as possible whilst acquiring high draft picks and highly rated prospects.

You and some others who've been around forever are sick of waiting and want the best team on the field every year.

I get both philosophies. Thinking of it as one being right and the other one wrong is silly.

You can't change the culture in 1 or 2 years. It is a process. You have to evaluate...clean the immediate problems out....inventory....prioritize ....sell the inventory you have for the inventory you want....develop and then you have an organization that is thriving with young players who are on the same page with the front office, the staff and their teammates. I liked watching the Cubs get close but I absolutely hated how Hendry built teams.

Like I said, I understand that philosophy.

God help them if they don't win a World Series.

Pastamania is gonna run wild.

jimmy is flipping over one car per day in order to keep himself sharp for the big festivities in October 2015. July was smart cars. Tomorrow, he starts on hot hatches.

You can buy a playoff team most of the time but you can not buy a world series. This hopefully puts them in a position to be a playoff team most every year with the chance to have things click and then win it all. No more trading all the prospects for a 1 year run or selling off all the vets. Continuity and success. I would love a world series just like every cub fan would but I would be happy with continuity and success.

Why? I just don't get that. What difference does it make how a winning team is built? That's the con right there. That somehow putting a bunch of guys in the minors guarantees long-term success. Every World Series winner has cast-offs on it. From Al Weis to Juan Uribe to Ryan Theriot. There aren't extra points for getting high draft picks by losing on purpose. I like what I heard Hahn say, "We'll never throw a season away." For me, as a guy paying for tickets, that's all I can ask. I'm not watching games in Birmingham or Charlotte and frankly, I don't give a sit what's there.

You're going to have a bunch of one-year runs with your prospects, more than likely. It just isn't that easy. Hendry gave you continuity and success. You couldn't wait to chase him and bring in some guys who lost 100 games on purpose.

I would like to know if that's representative of other Cubs fans on the board.

I agree with developing a young core that is built to make the playoffs every year. That's how I've wanted to develop a team since the early 90's. I would not be happy without a World Series.

Off subject: One of the biggest laughs I ever had is when myself and a bunch of my drunk friends decided to lift my best friends tiny Chevy and turn it the opposite way. When he came outside,he had the confused WTF look on his face.

But why do you care how it's done? There isn't one way to win a World Series. Hendry got you closer than anyone has. It's going to be hard for Theo to get you closer.

By the way, I currently think the Garza deal is better. However, there's a chance Garcia becomes the best major league player either side received.
