Word on the street has it that NFL guru Dan Pompei has quit the Trib over their edict that writers are no longer allowed outside freelance work. Supposedly there are others following his lead as well.

I don't think it's wrong for the Trib to have this policy. If they're your main employer, they want your writing to be exclusive to their publication. Not any sort of competition. Makes sense to me. Especially in this internet age where people can go so many places.

Not only that, these writers can pimp their other stuff on their twitter which the Trib allows them to put in the newspaper at the end of all of their columns and articles. So why would they want to send their readers else where? They probably only want that twitter used for Trib articles

Newspapers are dying, and they know it. I don't blame them for trying to protect their investment.

I enjoy Beardown's views,too. A lot of his radio conspiracy stuff is entertaining. If he could just place Bernstein on a grassy knoll in Park Ridge waiting for a certain President of the Meatheads we got something.

Haven't newspapers pretty much cut salaries / bennies across the board last few years? Fuck them I don't blame their reporters for trying to pad their income anyway they can seeing as how they can be shitcanned at anytime. Newspapers being so loyal and all, just ask those photographers at the Times.
