I know he didn't present himself very well here but he was a good guy in real life. He died much too young.

Wasn't stagecoach17 a guy that Eaglo Jeff worked with who said something about Mac's kid? He died in real life?

Saw something about this on Jeff's Facebook over the weekend but never put two and two together.

Dont remember the name, but when you said Eaglo Jeffs guy, he might have worked with him as had some issues with the guy posting some really bad shit on more than one occasion and might have Deleted his account. If that is the person? Eaglo can tell us if that is correct

Jeff's guy but also the brother of a close friend.

I never spoke to stagecoach about his time here as our paths never crossed much. I know his anger was not so much at Dan Mc Neil as much as it was about his perception of how another host was treated by the board. It was a bizarre way to lash out.

Anyway, they guy I knew was decent and it was my understanding that life had turned a positive corner for him only to be taken in a random accident.

I wouldn't have posted if he wasn't a board member as this is just an FYI kind of thing.

Was he the guy run over by Pedro in a pick-up while trying to skedaddle across State st against the light last week? These guys in pickups who cause these accidents never have licenses. Tragedy.

I'm very shaken about this and still quite a bit in denial. :(

He got hit by a pickup truck while he was crossing on State Street. He had the walk signal. Last Monday afternoon, a vehicle on 31st heading west made a right on green and did NOT yield the right of way to John. I always had a bad feeling that something like this would happen to somebody at that crazy intersection that has many issues, but never could have thought that this could happen to one of my closest friends. I've had to yell out several times at either students or others to not go and pay closer attention to the drivers not obeying laws around there. :x He suffered severe head injuries and back fracture and was in a coma....passed away on Saturday. I was the last person that he ever talked to.

Although his presence on the board was less than flattering or appropriate and I did not agree with him doing what he did, he was a dear friend. And Good Dolphin is right. His issue with Mac did have to do with being on the side of Pappy back when they had their issues, but that doesn't really matter in the long run.

My work days and nights are never going to be the same. We almost thought about starting up the Sports Huddle & Stuff show again, but obviously not now.

Tribune Article (name changed, but many of you know his name anyway):

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________

A 43-year-old southwest suburban man died Saturday afternoon after he was hit by a pickup truck Monday on the South Side, authorities said.

An autopy Sunday determined staegecoach 17, of the 300 block of somewhere in somewhere, died of multiple injuries from a pickup hitting a pedestrian, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

His death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner's office.

17 was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 6:28 p.m. Saturday.

He had been hit by a car on July 29 in the 3000 block of South State Street in the Dearborn Homes neighborhood, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

17 was crossing State Street on 31st Street heading east about 1 p.m. July 29 when he was hit by a 1994 Ford pickup truck, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada said.

Pedro Reyes-Cruz, 49, of the 1400 block of North Bosworth Avenue, was given two citations following the wreck – driving without a valid license and failure to exercise due care for a pedestrian in the roadway, according to Estrada

Thanks T-Bone. I appreciate it. Thing that really sucks is that I have to walk in almost the exact spot where he got hit every time I go to work.

I buried four people I was friendly with over the past two weeks. This was by far the most interesting of the group. The mass started with the theme from Star Wars. I also got to spend some time with Eaglo. RIP.

And thanks for all the others too. Haven't lost a close friend like that really ever before. Makes you think and makes me think one day at a time, you never know when. Life is short and should be enjoyed. I wish I could've thought that today at work though.
