How would this work? They say it will be on youtube. Do you pay for it?

I can pirate all of the NFL games off the internet anyway. Have been doing it for years. A little less of a need to do this for me after Comcast gave us the red zone. I would think if the NFL ticket goes to youtube, piracy would become more prevalent.

Plus people want this on their HD tvs. How would bars be able to show all the games if youtube gets the rights? How would the Vegas sports books do it? I know you can transfer internet streaming to TVs but would it be a good reception?

I know HD tvs are now being made with the internet access. In 5-10 years everybody will have these TVs. With that, they'll perfect streaming reception and cable companies will go out of business cuz you'll just pay for the channels you want.

While all these other fucktards are fighting (CBS v Time Warner), Google is just going to launch Google TV, which is actually the Google TV, which will be pre loaded with Google TV stations that you cant get elsewhere.

They will buy Netflix and have immediate content, combined with the NFL Network, they will shit cash and buy everything they can.

Just to be clear, they aren't buying it. They meet with the NFL every year. The ticket was a topic of convo, but NFL meets with a lot of silicone valley companies every year.

The head of YouTube was at the meeting, so that would be a good hint. Although, it could be a google tv thing as well.



Apple had a rumor leak about them working on deals with HBO, Viacom, espn,etc. Cautiously optimistic that cable companies are going to get fucked pretty soon.

I'm not entirely sure it will be as simple and straightforward as that. Many other interests work their voodoo at the good ol' FCC.

I don't have the 10 TVs like a Dan McNeil so I've never wanted Direct TV and the NFL ticket. The only reason to get it in my opinion would be if you have a sports book, 10 TV set up in your basement.

My system for NFL Sundays: Bears on the main TV. Bring the smaller TV down stairs for the redzone. Use the internet to pirate the game of which I've bet the most money.

That's good enough for me.

It will happen. With today's technological advances you don't need the middle man that is cable companies.

People will eventually just order the channels they want directly from the networks. A lot of the networks have multiple channels so they'll package them. But I think overall it will be cheaper and pretty much only the channels you watch. Not the 100 bullshit channels you don't watch.

Once the final stages of consolidation starts of the cable companies, major changes will take place.

Then the Govt will step in to regulate the monopoly, then they will all break up again

um, the cable companies are providing your internet, too. theyre just double dipping right now. once cable service is extinct, their IPTV service will make up for it. comcast and time warner are not going away anytime soon, or ever.

Princess Candyman was nutting in his size 64 pants the other day talking about this and he was most excited about how awesome it would be to have the ticket on his phone....his phone. His theory was that they would use youtube as the medium to broadcast the games. If this were to happen and the NFL ticket goes through the internet won't it just bog down do to the absurd amount of bandwidth being used?

Google Fiber is another thing I'm hoping for in the Chicago area.

netflix currently accounts for some 40% of the internet traffic in the US, which is more then even porn. So, in part, yes it will hurt bandwidth but not that much because FAR more people watch netflix then just football.

Google doesnt need youtube to start an IPTV service, either. they have plenty of cash to build a new server network to do it.

also, if you really want ticket on your phone, you already can with devices like slingbox. i would say talk to matt speigel, but he has no fucking clue what it is

I don't know if that is all going to happen. All of this is several years away. Other than Netflix there hasn't been enough crossover of Internet content you can view on your TV. Even cable companies have limited amounts of HD quality video. Plus the bandwidth is always an issue with all of this stuff. Clearly Google wants to be a player in the game and YouTube is a big part of that, but they haven't figured out how to monetize that yet.

The other thing I would say is that people's adaption of HDTVs and newer technology is slower than a lot of people think. Just because the Jones' have it doesn't mean everyone on the block does too.

he spends 5 minutes doing his slingbox read, specifically saying how theres no reason to miss a game again. you can watch on your phone, in the bedroom, or even at the airport yadda yadda...

then, 10 minutes later hes telling mac how he had the baseball game on in the living room, and he hates flipping back and forth between games so he had no way to watch the basketball game simultaneously. he even states how he thinks he needs more tv's in the livingroom- this is RIGHT AFTER he just told EVERYONE how slingbox is perfect for those situations- he complains how there is no way to watch two games.

he doesn't even pay attention to his own reads, and obviously was never given a free slingbox for doing that ad.
