Someone's really buying into the Cleve being good. That Cleveland/Miami game should be a toss up at this point. It's like they do not know the history of Cleveland.

I guess the thinking behind taking Philly or Cleveland, is to hope you get through week one with a team that you won't want to use again. What I don't understand, is the Seattle pick. There will be so many better weeks to use them. Colts was a no-brainer this week.

I would say New England or Pittsburgh are the safe picks.

Indianapolis is the way to go. There aren't many weeks you'll want to pick them going forward. May as well get a sure thing out of the way.

But it's not if there's ever going to be a point where you HAVE to pick them. They could go the whole season & not pick Cleveland & be just fine. Maybe they figure they'll just write-off the $15 as a charitable donation.

I agree, that's why I took the Colts. I was just speculating about why somebody would pick a team like that. Houston is another head scratcher. They play the Jags, and Titans at home, later in the season.

At least Houston's recent history says they will be good, so I can buy picking them if you aren't thinking about future weeks, same with the one 49ers pick (they must really let their hate of Green Bay make their decisions for them).
The Cleveland (and Philly) pick makes me scratch my head.

I believe we have 90+ in our survivor pool league at work. $20 for initial fee, $10 for one time buy back. Most went with Colts and Patriots.

Probably good to pick whomever is going against the Jags at this point. They appear to be headed to 0-16.

23 were eliminated. Most because of Steelers and Bucs. 2 people had a little too much faith in RG3. Hope they buy back.

I'm picking Falcons over Colts.

My upset pick would be Bucs over Saints.

1151 entries 144 eliminated after the first week. I'm making my brother pay my entry fee because he put the mush on the Steelers.

I've got the patriots tonight in the survivor league I'm in. There are 122 entries still alive but only 33 are picking the patriots. Most are picking Baltimore.
Makes me wonder, what is it about what we saw with Baltimore that makes them more attractive than New England?

Well New England barely got by The Bills and Baltimore had the understandable loss (in Denver against Peyton)

Plus if it's a league where you can only pick a team once, some might be saving the Pats

of the 23 that were eliminated, 18 bought back in.

The majority in our pool went with Raiders, Packers, Patriots, Falcons, and Texans.

"Saving" a team in survivor is one thing I will never understand. To all those who save teams, let me know how that works out for ya.

I'm in $20 pool with a $3,560 prize. 178 entrants. We lost 51 in week one. Think I'm taking Cincinnati this week.

Yeah, dangerous game.

Although if it's close and you see one of the teams youre considering has the Jags at home next week....

It is very important to map out the entire season. There are weeks coming up where there will be few viable options. If you have already used those options, you might be stuck with a team you don't really like.

I tend to not put too much stock into one game, regarding how I feel about a team for the season, but I have changed my opinion on the Steelers. I have re-mapped the year, and removed them from consideration. The defense isn't what it used to be, zero running game, Pouncey is out for the year, etc.

Choosing New England last week was incorrect for a variety of reasons.

-Road game
-Divisional game
-there will be a better time to use them

Remember, you don't necessarily have to last 17 weeks, you just have to outlast the others.

It's dumb to map out the entire season. Teams change drastically from week to week. Save Denver, SF, and Green Bay, then watch Manning, Kaepernick, and Rodgers all go down with knee injuries. I've (we're happy for ya) won a couple survivor pools, and I put zero stock in saving teams. If I may quote the Oakland corpse, just win baby.

I factored in all three of those things, but I still thought they were the best option.

The most important week is THIS week right?

Also, I have two entries, so Ill use the Pats again for the other one hopefully.

I am leaning towards Philadelphia. I certainly don't think they are world beaters by any stretch, but there isn't much tape on how to game plan for that offense yet. I think the Chargers are bad, and the west coast to east coast for the early kick is a big factor. I can't imagine ever using the Iggles again, once the leagues figures out the offense, and Vick is in a body bag. The other teams that I would consider this week (ATL, NE, BALT, HOU) are going to be needed later in the year. There are going to be some lean weeks in the near future. I couldn't imagine flying by the seat of my pants each week, instead of going in with a solid plan. I will take my chances that all of the elite QBs will not go down with knee injuries. I want no part of the Raiders, or any road favorites.

The Beloved would not be a bad play this week, either.
