I think you owe the Bears some money!

I was OK with the guy not suiting up for a preseason game, but to have no tackles or sacks v a Backup LT? Dont know how many plays he line dup on that side yesterday, but I know I didnt see him in the Bengalli backfield

Yeah, I was disappointed as well. In fact there were stretches where I didn't even see him on the field.

I dont think he is just cashing checks, but i do think he is not prepared for this season.

They did have him rework his deal this year. Dont think it was less money, just deferred some.

bigfan, you're obviously just watching the ball. He's consistently getting double and triple teamed. Sometimes even quadruple!

One time I saw all five Bengals O-Line take him on. He valiently battled through them and narrowly missed the sack. Meanwhile five Bear defenders stood around amazed at his prowess.

My All-22 showed all 21 guys blocking him on a couple plays.

I wonder if the Bears let the wrong "over-the-hill" defender walk. I wouldn't bet against him yet though.

His ability to stack and shed all 21 guys was while also locating his landmark was orgasmic.

Mac and Spiegs mentioned that he was on the field for 51 of 59 defensive plays. This is surprising to me.
I was looking for him quite a bit and was often missing.

A few guys here thought he was great yesterday! Don't be an idiot!

Peppers is one of the most overrated & overpaid big money stars in the history of the NFL. Bears will release him next year.

Why? Did your panel of doctors look him over? I have no idea what he had left in the tank.It might have been he simply priced his talents too high for what they thought he had left.
I'm not going to jump on Peppers yet, though. Maybe an off game, maybe Cincy had a lot of 3 step drops and quick hitters. It's not easy getting sacks. Let's see what he does next week.

The entire D line was nonexistent this game. That needs to be rectified quickly or Stafford and Rogers might both throw for 600yds against them.

peppers is the best player the bears have had since walter payton. if he wants to glide into mid to late season, hes allowed to. just be ready for the playoffs.

With Peppers' age and contract status, I think it's likely he's gone after the season even if he turns things around. Given that scenario, I think the Bears focus on the defense during the summer; you're going to need a pass rush regardless of what scheme you run, and if McClellin continues to underwhelm, it looks like the Bears will be in the same position they were in right after the Superbowl year when the pass rush disappeared due to Harris' injuries. Those were some bad years...

Which side of the fence are you on? Is he facing multiple coverage, or is he just cashing checks?

I will assume Kirkwood is mocking those who defend him with double and triple teams.

Last year, I did see some double teams, but must have missed all the triple teams, but saw him 1 on 1 many times, that he did move his man back, but didnt get around or through him to the QB.

Hub gave him an excuse in week 1 telling us the Bengals backup LT was good enough to start on most teams at LT, because none of us regular fans could even think that a backup OT is so good he should be able to stop an ALL PRO DE.

We will wait and see this weekend.

I am fine if he just gets better and improves all year, he has started the bar low to show improvement.

I assumed that he was likely the highest (or close to highest) non-QB of those 14 players, but surprisingly there are only a few QBs above him.

That is an insult to Hampton, Singletary, Urlacher, Briggs, Tillman & a few others. Peppers isn't even in the team photo of great Bears players & he will never be regarded as such. I said it the day the Bears signed Peppers & I'll say it again...he is one of the most over rated & over paid players in the game.
The Bears are paying this stiff $14.3 Million this year.
If he doesn't start playing, the Bears will release him after the season. Then again, they may not wait that long.

Yup. Have you isolated on Peppers & watched him being completely dominated by no names this year?
If Pep is finished the Bears should cut him & save that $14.3 Million, dontcha think?
