I agree with most of these;
Quote:
Who cares if someone anchors a putter or not?

Why don’t the manufacturers make balls that fly further and straighter for the average golfer.

Out of bounds is just a dumb rule for the average golfer. Just play it as a lateral hazard.

Recreational golfers shouldn't have limits on the number of clubs in their bag.

What if the hole was a little bigger?

Forget “honors” and whoever is out hits first. Play Ready Golf, hit and/or putt when ready.

Golf doesn't have to be 9 or 18 holes. Courses should be offering other options.

Who cares if golfers play music on the course as long as it’s within their group. We encourage it if that adds to the enjoyment of the round!

The name of the game is fun!

Only chance to play would be Sunday morning. I'll likely go to the chipping range nearby if I pick up a club at all.

87 at Gleneagles red course Saturday morning with Ugie and 2 others I normally play with. Ugie did pretty good on the front 9, had some rough patches on the back. I think he ended up with even 80 which he was probably slightly disappointed with. I played pretty well. Not great, but a lot better than the last 3-4 rounds I've played. Only one 3 putt, hit driver pretty well, irons weren't great but didn't get me into too much trouble. Flew a couple of short pitches with my sandwedge that probably cost me a total of 6 or 7 strokes, and took a 6 on a par 3. Almost had an ace though. 121 yard par 3 uphill into a slight breeze. Stuck a 9 iron about 6" from the cup. The mark was about a foot in front of the hole dead center, so I really don't know how it didn't drop. Got that birdie and ended up with a birdie on a par 5 on the back 9. No double bogeys, but 3 triple bogeys...ouch. I think I had 4 or 5 pars, everything else was single bogey. Bogey golf puts me upper 80s most of the time which I am just fine with.

Thanks to Frank for the invite. His shot on that par-3 was the closest I've seen without the golf ball actually dropping. I still don't know how it didn't.

Gleneagles was actually in great shape.

Got back last night from my annual Wisconsin golf trip and as always it was a great time. This year was even better because I played the best golf of my life! All the hard work I put in this summer paid off as it all came together at the right moment.

Trip started with me having food poisoning/stomach virus last tuesday. Spent the day at home with it coming out both ends at the same time. Not exactly what you want the day before vacation. Next day felt a little better, picked up the van from enterprise and drove to my parent's place in Green Lake. Next morning felt ok, but had massive case of diarhea and had to make several stops between Green Lake and Milwaukee airport. Picked up my buddies at the airport and then drove to Washington County for the scramble portion. 6 holes scramble, 6 holes alternate shot and then 6 holes shamble (both players hit off tee, then both players play their own ball in from the best drive). Each hole is worth 1 pt with no carry overs. Me and my partner have never led after day 1. Even though my stomach was doing flips I played great and we ended day 1 up 6-4. Highlights for me included a 200 yard par 3 that I stuck a hybrid to 4 feet past the pin. Later my partner left me 75 yards to the right of the green on top of a hill and I landed a SW to tap in range. Afterwards we went to a nice restaurant 5 minutes away that Hawg recommended.

Next day the low ball/low total format started with 2pts on each hole. We got up at 5:30 am and drove the hour and a half to Madison and the school's course, University Ridge. Rated as one of the top 5 University courses in the country it was a beautiful course. I played lights out on the front and shot a 39. Had a sandwich at the turn and started feeling like crap again. Had a rough back nine with a couple triples, a couple doubles and a couple birdies to finish with a 48 and a total of 85. My team was up by double digits after University Ridge as my partner shot a 37 on the back after I carried the front.

Next up we drove 5 minutes to Hawks Landing for another 18 holes. I rested for an hour and caught a second wind. Played great and couldn't miss with my driver. Got to the point where I would pick a target 250 yards plus and hit it. Aimed for the 150 on one hole and drove it to 3 feet of the pole. Shot 43-40-83. After day 2 we were up 27 points. Went into Madison and had a good burger on campus and then drove back to Green Lake.

Next day we played 27 at Mascoutin. The tourny was dormie on hole 11 and done by hole 12. We played the remaining holes for dinner and we won that bet as well. Shot 42-44-42 on the 3 nines at Mascoutin.

Felt great to put in all that work over the summer and have it pay off. Drove the ball great all weekend, ball striking was amazing, maybe only a few fat shots all weekend. Short game was tight and putting was solid, especially inside 10 feet. Had 4 birdies. Played the par 5s at University Ridge at 2 under!

Next year will be our 5th, already talking of stepping it up big time for that.

yea the food there was great but the service was so bad it was comical. We had some young girl who was just awful. Didn't show up at the table for about 15 minutes at the start. Said she was busy in the back "salading". Didn't realize that word could be used as a verb. Then proceeded to forget a bunch of stuff we ordered. No big deal, it was so bad that it was funny and didn't take away from the meal which was delicious. I had a german sampler of 3 types of schnitzel which were delicious. Was supposed to come with cabbage but she forgot that. In retrospect, the way I felt the next day I was better off without the cabbage.

It was nice to play Washington County in good weather as opposed to last year when it was pouring. Such a nice course, gotta be one of the best value's in the country.

I would put University Ridge in that category too...at $70 you'll be hard pressed to find a nicer course.

Glad the food was good, but sucks about the service. I have never had that problem. I will mention something to them. Yeah, Washington County is awesome, and I am glad the weather cooperated.

Decided to take a mental health day yesterday and played 18 holes at a local course called Petrifying Springs.
It is a pretty short and hilly one. I really just wanted to get out and hit the ball and didn't really line up any
putts seriously. I was in a cart by myself and got around the first nine in an hour. Back nine ran into a big
backup so I joined a two some in front of me. Accuracy was just a little bit off all around but never got into
trouble out there. Shot a 75 on a par 70 course so overall it was enjoyable and took a little bit of the stress
away for a few hours.

Ended up playing golf yesterday morning. It was pouring driving to the course and for about 15 minutes
after arriving. Skies opened up and talked my two buddies into playing. The front nine was great, just
occasional light rain and we had the entire course to ourselves. Back nine it became a steady rain and
a lot of work even to keep the clubs dry. Don't think the temp ever got over 60 degrees, thank god it
wasn't windy. Hit the ball ok but the putting suffered. It was too much work to constantly take wet
rain gloves off so I was putting with them and had very little feel. Ended up shooting 80 which I would
take under the conditions. Was fun watching my buddy play the back nine. He was lighting it up and
had 5 birdies on the back alone. Overall I think I will think hard about paying to play in the rain next
time, just was deperate to play I guess.

I had a dream last night I was playing golf in a foursome with Phil Mickelson. It was me, some other dude, PM and his vaporizer.

Damn you, shakes!

Sounds like being introduced to the vaporizer was a life changing moment for you. Let me know if you want me to get you one for yourself.

So I played this weekend for the first time since my big golf trip. Went to Balmoral Woods (very nice course) and played my worst round since May and 3rd worst overall this season. 50-46-96. It felt very similar to when I came back from Israel and only scored 1 goal in my first 5 games, just had no motivation to play. felt the same way on the course this weekend. Couldn't strike the ball at all anywhere outside of 60 yards. Most shots were fat or mishits. Drove the ball good and chipped and putted well. If I didn't do that I probably would've shot over 110. Had 2 pars and 2 GIRS all day, both on short par 5s. Seriously considered putting the clubs away for the year when I got home, still thinking about it.

Supposed to play Shepards Crook Saturday. Gonna hit up the range this week and if I can't get the swing back I'm gonna cancel Saturday and call it a season.

Played in a scramble last Friday. I couldnt get off the tee or putt worth a damn but my approach shots were great. I've never played a scramble where we used as many of my shots.

Got a chance to play Saturday morning. I was a little pissed because they had an outing that was a shotgun
start at 9am so we had to play the front nine twice. Ended up shooting an 80. Didn't do anything particularly
bad or particularly well.

91 at Coyote on Saturday. 15 holes were actually pretty good-- bogeys or pars. The other 3 though...ouch. A 6 on a par 4 which isn't a killer, but a 7 and a 6 on two Par 3's ARE killers. 43 on the front 9 which I was pretty happy with. Those two par 3's on the back 9 killed me. Very frustrating.

38-45-83 at Shepherd's Crook Saturday. Played great for the most part. The front nine was one of my best of the year. Birdied #1 and #9. Only screw up was a 4 putt where I left the first putt 6 inches short of taking the ledge and rolling down to the cup. 3 putted in from there. #9 was one of my best holes of the year. 555 yard par 5 into the wind was probably playing around 600. Driver, 3 wood and then I was about 170 out into a stiff wind. Grabbed my 5 iron and then thought twice and went back for the 4 iron. Struck it perfect, got it up into the wind and it held up and stuck pin high 10 feet right of the cup.

Of course at the turn I texted Tbone and Hawg to tell them how well I was doing and how I probably just jinxed myself. Bogeyed 10 with a terrible decision to go with a gap wedge from 120 instead of a PW thinking the wind would carry it in. Left it 15 yards short of the green. Next up a quadruple bogey on a par 3! 6 iron, never felt comfortable with my allignment, but instead of backing off the shot I took it and blocked it into the sand on the right. Ball was in the back of the trap, downhill lie, could only get 1 foot in the trap. Similar results to Dustin Johnson's sand shot on 17 yesterday, skulled it into the grass and it rolled back into the trap only now it was against the lip and couldn't get my front foot in the stance. Took me 2 more to get out of the there. Bogeyed 12 as well to go 6 over onthe first 3 holes on the back. Got it back together and went 3 over the remaining 6 holes to finish with a respectable 83. 57% fairways and 61% GIR. Hit at least 4 putts outside of 10 feet including 2 birdie.

Aside from a few shots, really happy with the way I struck the ball. Night and day from my round last week. Afterwards, tried thinking of 5 shots I'd like to get back from the round and could only come up with 4.

Got out last night after work with the fiancee and managed to squeeze in 9 holes at Billy Caldwell. I'm pissed cause I was one bad shot away from playing my first even round of golf ever! Had 8 pars and one quadruple bogey where I had to tee off with a 3 wood and I cut too much off the corner of a dogleg right and I leaked it to the right where it settled behind a tree. Had no shot, but tried to squeeze it through an opening and hit a tree and came backwards behind another tree. Hit another tree and then hit another tree on the next shot. So if I just didn't screw up that initial drive and put it to the left side instead of trying a stupid shot over the right I would've had a real good chance of my first and only 9 hole even round.

Still a good round. Between that and your front nine, things are coming together. This sounds a lot like my
seasons in the past. Everything coming together just in time for the fall weather to hit and the season to end in
6 weeks.

Yeah, my bank account is telling me to enjoy Saturday and forget Sunday but looking at the calendar
I figure after my year end scramble tournament on Nov 2nd I'll have at least 4 months to put some
money away. Could be nicest weekend left this year.
