As I was zipping around the channels last evening, I heard some Howard G. some Brittany P and some Luke (Whatever his name is) and then got some Leary.

The difference is that Leary cant speak well! he talks slower than all of them and has hard times pronouncing words. do others have such issues? I am sure they do, but they dont have Radio and TV jobs.

Maybe he just has a problem reading his teleprompter? Either way, he is really really bad at his TV job.

He sacrifices speed for pronounciation. This would not be one of the things I would use against Sir.

Just you wait 'enry 'iggins!

I'll watch the local postgame show if bigfan mans the prompter and the anchor has to read from it exactly how it's written.

Redskin can be wrong, I am not going to stand in the way of his foolish thoughts.

 Thanks, BF. That makes it the fourth time I've been wrong in the last ten years. Rare!

When I first read this,I was wondering who the hell is Leary? I forgot that's his "petname" on here. I'm sorry but I disagree. I think Larry does a fine job on TV. I expected him to suck, but he doesn't.

I caught a little bit of him with Mike Adamle and Brent Sopel and I thought he did a good job. Of course, he was with Mike Adamle and Brent Sopel.

Next time he is on, flip back and forth between any other sports show or anything with a reporter.

I really noticed it when I flipped between Luke Stuckmeyer and Leary. Then I am switching #34b (Brittany Payton) and Leary and I realized he can't really talk. He needs to slow down at a number of words to either read them or just to pronounce them. As Good Dolphin said, he sacrifices speed for pronunciation, which is fine if you are in the 4th grade production of a Christmas Tale, just not for my major market Bear highlights!

Speaking of #34b, why doesnt she have a national gig! She is cute, witty and talks REALLY REALLY WELL! or at the least a major network gig in town?

YES! On MS. Payton. She is on that "Chicago Eats" show with her gayish co-host visiting different local food joints. I think she is very charming and cute, too.

You do know Brent Sopel is a personal friend of Learys!

Even if it wasnt for NBC 5 sitting them next to each other on the set, he would still be very close friends with him.

Almost spit the coffee on the screen after that one. Nice one.

Of course, it would be "A Christmas Teal" if Laurence was saying it.

I agree, but she has gotten much better and does a very good job, even in situations that she might be out of place in. You dont think she will get her hands dirty, but she does.

She has a real personality. It seems producers these days just want the bland talkers.

Walter didn't make a killing like today's athletes. He just missed the era of NFL HUGE contracts. I remember seeing some where that in 1985, Walter only made like 800k from the Bears. The first half of his career he made less than 500k. He retired in 1987.

I know he had some other business ventures. But a lot of them failed. He also lived it up with women, wine and cars. I don't think his kids got a lot.

Both his kids are sitting back and pretty much living the life with only occasional and easy work.

Payton got a Lambroghini from Kangaroos as a bonus one year. He made money

I'm not saying he died poor. But, like I said, in 1985 he was making close to what Jamarcus Webb was making before he was cut. Just to put it in perspective. The big money contracts didn't start until '92 or '93 when the players got out right free agency rights. And the NFL started to become a bigger monster with revenue streams coming from everywhere. Also, athletes endorsement deals weren't what they are now. Cars are a bad thing to get. Walter should have asked for cash. Those cars are long gone or worthless now.

Also, he died at 50, so the family lost out on a lot of autograph signings and public speaking money HOFers command into their 70s.

If his net worth was more than 10 million when he died I'd be shocked. I would actually bet less. So, yeah, that's nice money. Connie and the kids got that, but that can't last them forever. Plus you can tell Britney likes the finer things in life. So she probably already spent a good portion of her share.

Now NFL players get 100 million deals. Just pointing out that Walter didn't play in the NFL we know today.

$850k in 1985 would be roughly $2 mil today.

$250k in 1977 is roughly a $1 mil.

He was mostly likely worth well over $10 mil when he died given other investments, endorsement money, and business interests.

I think Brittney is marrying some investment banker, so I think she'll be fine.

Ask shakes. He probably knows the guy.

1987 Trib article -

Payton`s net worth is estimated by people who know at $10 to $15 million. He can afford to sit, but that is beside the point.

That's $26 mil in 2013 money. If a guy retired today with $26 mil, I'd say he and his family would be fine.

Well, I wouldn't say that, but one might.

Believe me, you can buy a lot of nitrous oxide and whores for $26 mil.

Believe me.
