Fred Davis. With all other receivers and TE's out for the year in Washington, he is now the number 1 and only option there. He is a solid start from here out.
yeah, i feel you there... i'm so lucky i nabbed him at hte perfect time, heading into week 6. i hadn't played fantasy football for 5 years, so like, example, when picking RB#2 behind AP i took tolbert over mathews, not knowing the desire to go to the latter... and i exited hte draft with antonio gates as my TE, figuring "hey, i've got antonio damn gates, i'm going to have a + at TE, it's like having another bonafide WR so i'll be better than like 9-10/12 teams when it's all said and done!!"
i didnt know that gates had foot problems, so like, it's no coincidence that during my 4 game losing streak (i started 1-0, rolling my first opponent like 151-78 or something, then i lost 4 in a row) gates was out like mcneil's gout and seemingly-fortunately i went ahead and drafted marcedes lewis on name value alone. he has his "breakout year" last year with gerrard at the helm, and i figured going to blaine gabbert meant that his overall production might dip a bit, but he'd end up being the #1 target of the rook and therefore be a solid #2 TE... well he was definitely a solid #2 alright, netting me anywhere from like 1-4 points per week... so as those losses were racking up, i rolled the dice on fred davis, a guy who had very good weeks 1+2 (14.00, 17.60 points respectively) but then fell back to two weeks of 2.80 and 5.40 before his bye week... honestly, i just wanted a warm body to play TE and give me ~5 points with an outside chance for 10, but fred turned around and has given me 12.50, 17.00, and 13.40. i had no idea he'd be that solid...and i really worried htat with rex exiting stage left john beck would find other preferred targets... but hey, cooley went down for the year and thus far he's survived the beck era (and all he got was this t-shirt) lamentably, i think he's got a few more dog weeks in him, i just hope/pray it's not this week cuz i've got AP/harvin on a bye, and after this week i could get proactive and go with gates @ TE and malcolm floyd / percy harvin at my flex, as opposed to the 2TE getup.
so long story short, it's a magic carpet ride with fred davis... we'll see how long it goes. i've been sitting on floyd, a week ~2-3ish mid-week waiver claim special, in the hopes that philip rivers would kick into his perennial 4000+ yards ~30TD self, hoping that floyd would step up and establish himself as THE MAN when v-jax got the lionshare of top CBs and therefore outshine both pussy hardon and fred davis and establish himself as weekly must-play @ the flex position... as it stands, when having a full squad i've been going with pussy hardon @ flex cuz come hell or high water, evne on a bum team, he's good for 10 points/week. last week he had like 15.40 or something (thanks to a rushing TD, of all things, giving him 2 TDs on the year... one rushing and one kickoff/punt return) but i would love to see floyd STAY ON THE DAMN FIELD and then have rivers wake up and go ballistic to the point where floyd's a lock for 15/week, using his ace size/speed to be real good... but it's that damn health and inconsistency... last year he played in 11 games, but in those 11 games he netted ~717 yards and 6TDs... not bad a'tall, cuz you figure he woulda been 1000+ and something like ~9 TDs... ah well, #c'estlavie.
THAT HAS BEEN YOUR UNNECESSARY SINIBABBLE THREAD OF THE DAY. CARRY ON, BLOKES!
