But you seem to be vacillating between whether this firing in the middle of the contract is Plan A or Plan B.

And if Joe stays in his current home, does that mean Theo's plan was an utter failure?
I think it's possible that Girardi's entry into free agency (so to speak) may have influenced Theo's decision and expedited the timing but I doubt it was part of his long term plan.
