and no, not just the moms who are strippers

I don't know how you people do it especially if the other parent is not meaningfully involved in the kid's life. My hat's off to you...except RPB

Couldnt imagine doing it without my wife. Chances are hes going to be fucked up anyway but at least with her around he has a fighting chance. To go it alone would be mind-boggling.

That is all well and grand, but not all the time unfortunately things work out. It must be nice to live in a fantasy world.

Not dealing with the other parent can actually make it easier once you get past the adjustment period.

This world needs more no parent households. It normally leads to comic gold like Home Alone.

Or maybe they made the mistake to enter in to it in the first place.

Just stop having Children. It isn't fair to them.

Why does you being married make you a better parent than me?

No one will deny the fact that a 2 parent family is the most desirable environment for raising a child. Surely you agree with this since you were once Married, right?

Sure a healthy 2 parent household is ideal because everyone shares responsibilities and many other wonderful reasons but the world isn't perfect. Death also creates single parent homes. Should those parents get rid of their children? In the end having someone around that cares and willing to give the child guidance is what is most important.

Im not sure Humans are meant to spend 50 plus years with one other person.

Notice how marriage was much more successful when the life expectancy was lower.

Easier to just "stick it out" for 10 years than 30

You have multiple older children. Getting them out of the house each morning and helping with homework each night has to absolutely drain you by the end of the week which negatively impacts you overlooking the little frustrations they cause. A bad relationship is draining as well but I cannot imagine not having help.

If your kids were perfect, like ours, you guys wouldn't have these issues.

Is that the only reason you think that was involved?

Of course not, Sillycrest

Im just saying, it's a factor. I'd guess the women's lib movement had a big impact. Im sure many woman stayed in bad marriages before for fear of shame.

Also, most women working makes it possible for them to consider divorce.

There are many factors, and once divorce becomes (became) the norm, it kind of feeds on itself.

I don't expect to get help therefore it doesn't bother or stress me out when I don't get it. I was surprised their mom turned out to be a deadbeat but after the initial shock I just ignored it and my kids don't care anymore. Time management and creating a routine is key. Some discipline is needed too. I iron all their clothes on the weekend for the week and it saves time in the morning. There is a homework table in the kitchen so I can help with homework while cooking. I build my work schedule around them being in school and I stick to it. I'm never late for anything. I always appear to be in control so it doesn't bother my kids. They all are honor students and generally stay out of trouble so in my mind they make it easy for me. I'm occasionally rewarded with hours off on a Saturday. I'm blessed and in my mind it is easier than being with their mother. Sure I have to sacrifice a few things and a couple dollars but they're worth it.

I'm a woman...and I don't know how to iron well. I know one person that irons.

Is it mostly single moms by you? How are you fitting in? We have a stay at home dad that hangs out with us. It's hard for him sometimes.
