At least the crockpots now have the container that comes out and you can just soak it for the necessary 36 hrs. When I was younger we had an old crockpot that was all one piece so you had to wash it while avoiding getting the outside of it wet. Quite the conundrum.

Your crock pot must be disgusting on the inside. No way a dishwasher can get 8-10 hrs of baked on grime off. YOu know you are doing some pre cleaning before hand.

Plus I dont put any pots or pans in the dishwasher, all pots, pans, baking sheets and crockpots must be handwashed in the Scorpio home.

This is kinda what I was thinking, plus I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to go in the dishwasher. It's bad for the surface of the basin.

It sounds like they know how to clean a crock-pot properly.

News you can use fellas....

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR SLOW COOKER
• ALWAYS turn your slow cooker off, unplug it from the electrical outlet,
and allow it to cool before cleaning.
The lid and stoneware can be washed in the dishwasher or with hot,
soapy water.
Do not use abrasive cleaning compounds or scouring
pads. A cloth, sponge, or rubber spatula will usually remove residue.
To remove water spots and other stains, use a non-abrasive cleaner or
vinegar.
• As with any fine ceramic, the stoneware and lid will not withstand
sudden temperature changes. Do not wash the stoneware or lid with
cold water when they are hot.
• The outside of the heating base may be cleaned with a soft cloth and
warm, soapy water. Wipe dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
CAUTION: Never immerse the heating base in water or other liquid.
• No other servicing should be performed.

Well yeah, I can put a plate with dried spaghetti sauce in my dishwasher too. Doesnt mean it's going to come out clean.

The question as to whether or not it is safe to stick the thing in the dishwasher is separate to how much of a slob an owner of said crock pot would like to be.

No use, beni. Hank already knows everything about my Crockpot. He said so himself in this thread.

You get butthurt so bad on this board. You would think I insulted your family or something. I think you might have the thinnest skin on the entire board.

If you want to put a non-prewashed crockpot in your dishwasher have at it. In my experience and opinion (is that better?) putting pots and pans directly from the oven/stove to the dishwasher results in a substandard product. Apparently your dishwasher is different and can do things I've never seen before. I apologize for besmirching the good name of your Whirlpool Elite.

Frank is just sick of dealing with dickhead comments from people who think they know it all. I can't believe a simple comment about doing no work and having dinner catapulted into this.

Yes, all knowing Spanky, the work is still done. But the difference is that you come home from work or where ever and dinner is ready. Some of us appreciate that after working.

Good for Hank and however he cleans his pots and pans and whatnots. I never said anything other that my dishwaser gets the crockpot stonewhere clean. Don't believe it? Too fucking bad. You aren't using it so what do you care?

Do you pair your chicken with a poor choice of beer like Miller Lite?

With the chicken last week I had a glass of something called "silver beach saunterine" which is a sweet white wine from a winery in Michigan that we stopped at over the summer. Normally I don't drink during the week.

Disposable crock pot liners work great...no clean-up required. Added bonus - you can tie up the bag and toss in the fridge for leftovers. :alien:

I think I would believe Frank more if he told me he shot an 82 last weekend more than I would someone telling me they just throw the crock pot in the dishwasher and it came out clean.

That stuff bakes on there for 8-10+ hours and it is the consistency of mortar when it cools. I can't believe a dishwasher can take all of that off.

sorry i have to pile on Frank here, but i wouldn't put the stoneware portion in the dishwasher

usually requires a soak for a bit, then i use the Mr. Clean magic eraser, which works pretty good
even still, there is a small amount of caked on stuff i know i'll never get off, and as a semi-neat freak drives me insane

i only use it for a few things, don't find it a particularly useful piece of equipment overall
