I'd retire 17 first.

Most hits in the 90's...

I don't think many people that are Cubs fans or baseball fans would have an issue with #21 or #17 being retired. #21 for sure. He lied and was departed the Cubs in a real shitty manner, but the Cubs and Wrigleyville wouldn't be what they are today if it weren't for Sammy Sosa.

pat hughes doesn't count as a "legendary broadcaster" because he's technically a robot. you know when you see peoiple drive through a burger place on TV and they gotta shout into some chubby mascot dude to order? that's what pat hughes is, just kind of middle aged and silver-foxing it up, otherwise completey stiff and oddly grandiose in his presentation.

I disagree with this. I don't find him stiff at all. The relative looseness of the Pat & Ron pairing was part of the fun.

Bernstein has said that Ed Farmer is better than Pat Hughes. To think this, you either have to be a corporate shill, a Cub-hater, or baseball stupid. He's gota be at least two of three.

I wouldn't retire Sosa's number. He has to be shunned a bit for what he did. Wood just flat-out didn't do enough, but I'd be fine with the "out of circulation" designation for a while until some really good pitcher comes up and wants to wear 34 and gets Wood's "blessing" to do so. There are no more numbers left to retire.

Chiefs are the 2001 Bears. Betting against them in the playoffs will be free money.

Yeah, Pat Hughes is "too homespun," while Farmer will "teach you baseball."

I like Hughes, but I prefer Len. He misses Brenley who was great.

Since Steve Stone said so. That was back when he was the best in the business.
