A dislocated finger from a liner to SS on the first pitch of the game sidelined my ability to add my money for about 2 months on the old 10-key.

I didn't think that you needed another reason to drink.

My friend Jerry who is dead now was a pretty good player. But Jerry's brother, Bob is the greatest hitter in the history of 16" softball. He invented the art or "cutting" or "dumping" the ball.

My alive friend Jim is the greatest drinker in the history of 16" softball. He invented the art of throwing up on 2nd base after beating out a double.

This being the Chicago Sports Fan Message Board, we can't really allow that 12" fastpitch thread to be more popular than this one. Don't any of you guys have any tales about Willie "Steamer" Simpson or Tony Reibel?

I had quite a steamer yesterday, but I doubt that you want to hear about it.

This was my first year at Oak Lawn playing 16". Co-ed league, some teams are really bad, some of the guys act like it is the World Series. Somehow they never win and either end up trying to play the whole infield or yelling at their teammates.

There was only almost one fight where words were exchanged. It's an hour at the field then a few hours at the bar across the street.

Guys who try hard in coed are the worst.

My brother played on some pretty successful 16" teams in the 80s and there were a lot of guys like that on his teams and the opposing teams. He plays on a few teams now, one of which is comprised of a few guys he played with back then and their sons.

How do they have sons that old? Shit, how do I have a son that old? is a common utterance.

I thought we were putting together a team to play at Welles Park against the Lawrence Holmes lead Score team

I have played very little softball in my life. I find this bizarre because I was far and away the best baseball player of my friends who play regularly. Maybe it is my personality.

Let's play two this weekend. No gloves allowed. (or mittens).
