Evidence that Bernstein made it up. If not, had it completely wrong. Newsday is saying that Theo prefers A.J Hitch over Giraridi. Far from the "All in for Giraridi" and "Hoping not to have a plan B" that Bernstein has been reporting.

From Newsday:

The Cubs, who fired their manager Monday, are interested in Girardi, the case even before they dismissed Dale Sveum, though there's increasing chatter from industry insiders that president of baseball operations Theo Epstein prefers Padres assistant general manager A.J. Hinch for the job

A.J. Hinch? Seriously? Why the hell would Theo want him to manage the Cubs? He was a disaster as Manager of the D Backs in 2009.

Don't really have any info but my gut says the SD connection with Hoyer and former minor league farm director has the painting on the wall. It will come as quite a shock to Bernsie I am sure.

ozzie was mocking Acta a couple of years ago when reporters were comparing the two. I'd love to hear those clips now

Why would the young players, especially the 2 that have been paid, listen to a damn thing Acta or Hinch have to say? Hinch is not respected at all and Acta was supposed to be able to identify with and coach the young latino players in Cleveland and they ran his ass out of town in a hurry.

If they are going to fuck this up with Girardi then go get Matt Williams or hell even Ozzie a pretty good choice considering the list they have now.

Who would be the Cub equivalent of the out of nowhere Ventura hire?

Someone with some present connection to the club but has not ever been mentioned in manager disussions

Kerry Wood?

Moreland?

Bobby Mitchell or Bryan Harper. Both are managing in the minors. Harper was the AAA manager for the Angels a few years back when they were in their prime. Mitchell was the AAA manager for the Angels as well as he replaced Harper. Harper is in the bad ass Swaimer mold. Mitchell is kinda old and a players guy.

That's why they like A.J. Hinch. He has a psychology degree from Stanford, so he's a really smart person, but he's not a Really Smart Person.

Are they doing scoreboards with "The Score's Dan Bernstein reports that..."?

Ozzie would be the perfect choice right now.

No.

Is anyone giving Bernstien any crap about this Girardi thing? Even if he can respond, he still left himself open to some hits.

If the Cubs did not make an offer, as said by Girardi, then Dan and his sources were entirely incorrect.

 Big Voice Guy is announcing "JOE GIRARDI TURNS DOWN A POTENTIAL OFFER WITH THE CUBS TO STAY WITH THE YANKEES!"

How do you turn down a potential offer? I recently turned down a potential offer from Megan Fox to turn her pineapple upside down.
