"fridge" or "fringe" or "frenge"

Vowel issues??? Spiegs saying "You have some vowel issues when talking"

Leary just doesnt talk well as I pointed out when I heard his TV time. He often needs breaks to gather his thoughts and move on.

Now that Spiegs put him on the spot. Ya know Spiegs has made the list!

Spiegs called him out?

It's basically with the "I" word. Something in his brain triggers him to pronounce Is as Es. Also Terry as Teary. Though he's been saying Terry correctly during tranny recently.

The worst is him pronouncing his home state wrong. "Ellinois". I don't know how it doesn't sound wrong to Leary. It should. It just doesn't.

One would think that basic enunciation skills would be a prerequisite for a job that includes speaking on television or the radio, but anyone who was around when Tonya Harding and her crew busted up Nancy Kerrigan knows better after hearing the great Tom Brokaw nearly choke on his tongue each day while attempting to pronounce "Gillooly".

Leary should do some fund raising for that cause!

Maybe it's a Flossmoor accent. There could be scores of people all along 183rd Street who listen to endie music and watch Beers games.

I can assure you not

That's the thing, the mispronunciation comes from nowhere

Actually, it might be a south side or south burbs thing. I knew somebody from the South burbs that said "Milk" as "Melk" and the word "since" as "sence". We used to get on him about it. Dan has gotten on Terry for saying "Melk" instead of "Milk" as well. He's a south burber. But I think that's the only word that Terry doesn't pronounce the "I".

Larry has trouble with a lot of "I" words.

if he dropped some "over dares" then maybe, this is more of a genuine lack of mouth, eyes and brain all working together.

I went to high school with a guy who grew up in Chicago Heights. He said melk too. By Jove, you may be on to something.

I'm always going to call it Jewels, Aldis, Foods For Less, and Save A Lots, so just accept it.

You're the perfect person to ask. Do you know "Melk" is wrong when it comes out of your mouth and just can't help it? Cuz I'm sure you've heard people pronounce it correctly all of your life.

That's the part I want to understand. How you can hear it correctly when others speak, and not have your brain process it correctly when you speak.

Yes,I grew up in Chicago and people start out saying something the wrong way (possibly picking it up from their parents who came from Europe) and stick with it.

The "dats" and "dares" I get. I don't get wrongly substituting the "E" sound for the "I" sound.

I also understand "Melk", I guess. That's a very common word for kids to say and hear. You can pick that up from your parents. But all "I" sounds turning into "E" sounds with Larry? Don't get it.

Today, you guys said Larry said "Frenge" instead of "Fringe". Not a common word. You wouldn't hear that word much growing up. So there has to be some explanation for this default in the brain.

I remember questioning the term "frunch room". Apparently that is Chicago-ese for front room...or what everyone else calls a living room.

Zach Zaidman needs to be included in this discussion. I cringe every time I hear him say "strenth."

That must be how they teach it at Syracuse.

This morning I read that Danieal Manning is out indefinitely. My first thought was "I wonder how Leary pronounced his name."
