Why the hell did the Rays just let the tying run score?? This is an elimination game and you're at home. You can't play not to lose you have to play to win. That was an awful decision by Maddon.

Maddon should've walked Pedroia to load the bases with only 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd.

That or play the infield in. Anything but playing back and just let the tying run walk home.

Now they hit a game winner. Unbelievable.

Bad things happen when you pitch closers in non-save situations.

Rays just need to have their backs against the wall to win--4th elimination game in the last week or so.

A solid Golden Sombrero for McCann tonight. Hope he can go for the 5th strikeout to end the game.

edit:
No 5th K, but I take solace he had to watch Juan Fucking Uribe's bat flip for the go-ahead homer. It wasn't as douchey a flip as I would have wanted, but enough that hopefully McCann stews about it all Winter and calls for Uribe to get plunked in spring training or something to protect the sanctity of the game.

Sweaty Freddy stepped up

But it wasnt enough.

I think Mattingly was crazy to start Kershaw. At the least, start Nolasco and have Kershaw ready in an emergency

And Atlanta probably wishes they HAD brought their closer in in a save situation...

Buck Martinez sounds upset that ballparks are "fan friendly".

He can reasonably start him in games 1, 4, and 7 of the NLCS now. If he held him out for game 5 of the NLDS he could only pitch twice.

Fair point although I think he should start Greinke in game 1 and CK on full rest game 2

I'm just kind of against three days rest thing because the results haven't been good historically but I think they'd been better recently so maybe I'll reconsider

It does kinda suck when that happens though

He phrased it poorly.

So do the Red Sox lose in the ALCS or the WS? I would just like to see the Boston teams keep up this impressive streak of losing deep into the playoffs. Celtics, Pats, Bruins, now BoSox.

I imagine the Red Sox/Tigers will be entertaining. Guess that I am feeling Red Sox here. On the other side hard to pick against Dodgers.

But don't take a curtain call in the second inning.

Jeebus.

Two A's fans behind the Tigers dugout have giant Kate Upton cutouts. I'm sure they will be confiscated soon, but that's bringing it.
