Although I wouldn't vote for him in this case, Mac's 1st go round at the Score fell into this same category after he was paired with Jigs. Very angry radio.

Maybe there was a reason he hated working with Jiggs?

Buy me a beer some time...

I think Mac has explained why he didn't like Jiggs.

1. He loved working with Boers. 2. He resented the partnership cuz North was allowed to break everybody up for his own wants. 3. Jiggs was too proper and tame as a broadcaster. (Mac wanted to talk about porn, gambling and tell dirty jokes while Jiggs wants to talk about a high school fund raisers for uniforms and the Bears coat drive. Hmmmmmm.)

Looks like it's Mike North vs. Dan Bernstein.

Which is why this would be the ultimate show: North and Bernstein.

It is not by coincidence that they are also two of three most popular hosts in the station's history.

You guys are really missing the boat in not voting for Shaer. The SCORE was pretty much unlistenable in the mornings for its first decade

I didn't think Shaer was bad but that's why we are on here, to voice our opinions.

Shaer was pretty bad, but at least put forth an effort at a professional show. You know, like show preparation and guests and talking about sports. that kind of thing.

Yes, and I don't believe he'll ever live it down. Certainly not among the Chicago area radio management. The show likely would have failed either way, or at least Telander would have bailed in quick order... Why would you behave in such a way as to make the blame stick to you for that trainwreck?

Mully landed on his feet from that tumult. If Doug would've moved to mornings with North... who knows? I see him morphing into the general topic talk as well, not being the all-sports toadie... Still would've stunk on ice, because North was losing touch with what worked for him...

Schaer was a pro, just extremely irritating to listen to. I consider Memolo's arrival to be a godsend..

I was fine with Tom Webb, btw. And Dorothy Humphries. It just that goof, doing a TV sportscaster-style delivery, who I couldn't handle more than 5 minutes at time...

(Shark would bring up that Schaer *was* a TV sportscaster, as well. We know...)

Rick Telander was on Chicago Tonight the evening Frontline aired the program about the NFL and head injuries. He was awful. He should be kept indoors caged to this typewriter. I'm not sure what he was doing on the show. He rambled, babbled, and obfuscated. He'd begin with a point, think of something else and then expound on a third unrelated idea. At one instance he actually stated this generation's men were less intelligent due to repeated head collisions from participating in sports when they were younger.

It's always been Leery for me, but Bernstein is really giving him a run for his money. Phony toadying is a lot less loathsome than earnest racial coding and improper hyphenation.

I'd also like to add "You can't get mad about how much those Oscar gift baskets cost! Those are a great deal for those sponsors!" and everything it implies about his worldview.
