Bob Melvin lost that game last night. Bad choice, Bob.

Put aside the feelings on how good or bad Beane is, what would you do if you were the owner? Are you upset with no World Series?

What should Beane do differently?

He's the genius. He should figure it out.

What should Beane do differently?

If he just would have accepted the Boston job in the movie, all would be different.

Hatch, Im not sure he would have the same success with a lot of money. Maybe its something about cheap players he's figured out.

They've had all different types of teams

He probably should let Jonah Hill make more decisions.

The team is something like 1-12 in elimination games in his tenure

what side of the fence are you on RPB?

if spending more would make him worse, would spending less make him better?

Considering he is part owner now, I doubt he is going anywhere until he decides to quit.

I think he has proven that his system of scrap heap picking works well during the day to day grind of a regular season. All the guys have to keep proving themselves to show that they belong. When you get to the playoffs you are going up against better talent and that wins the day.

My statement doesn't hold any judgment on whether he is doing well or not. Based on probability, I would expect a team that gets to that many elimination games to win a few more of them

The only thought I would have is they didn't have BIG WHITE STUDS on the mound, but Zito, Mulder, Hudson were nothing to sneeze at.

What is the problem with his results? Are they not still amazing?

He should never change. Playoff results don't matter.

hey, what's your beef with Beane?

I didn't read the book or see the movie, so I dunno. He generally doesn't seem like too bad a guy nowadays.

So you get a book and movie because of good results? When do we get the Jim Hendry movie?

As soon as Phillip Seymour Hoffman has three months to film

If Michael Lewis had profiled Kenny Williams and instead written Flip a Table Over When You're Angry, we wouldn't have this thread.

The addendum at the end of the book about 2005 would have been great though.
