Long overdue. Unlike Nellie Fox and Ron Santo, he will be able to get the award in person. Fama is the father of modern finance. I doubt whether financial futures or equity options would exist without his work. While the world owes much to Prof. Fama, the city of Chicago would play a much smaller role in the world economy without his work.
