I love the food at the Lodge. The last time I was there, I had wienerschnitzel, sauerkraut, and spaetzle.

Okay, I was in Quencher's the other day and a guy from Pipeworks brought in some samples. I get the feeling some of this shit might be a joke, like, "let's see what we can get these goofs to drink". For example, there was one called Pastrami on Rye. I can't imagine anyone really drinking this stuff, but you beer snobs will probably want to try it for yourselves. There was another one that was cucumber flavored. I forget what it was called. I wouldn't really drink that one either, but the bartender pointed out it might be good as a beer back with a Bloody Mary. Maybe. The best one was called Pineapple Bling. It was pretty smooth with just a slight hint of pineapple flavor. I could actually see drinking that one. But I have to ask, doesn't anyone have any respect for the Reinheitsgebot anymore?

Bought a Pineapple Bling last week. Haven't tried it yet. The guy working at Cardinal was pushing Pastrami on Rye. I laughed and said no thanks. I won't eat the sandwich. Why the hell would I drink that beer? Sounds disgusting.

They don't in Germany, so why should I?

They changed the law after learning about the importance of yeast in the brewing process, so they aren't exactly hard and fast rules.

There are very few German/continental Euro beers that I like. Too much of a skunky flavor. Skunky flavor is for bud, not beer.

I'm drinking a Greenbush (by cracky) Brother Benjamin Imperial IPA, right now.

Southern Tier Warlock is damn near undrinkable for me. I guess I'm not the biggest pumpkin beer fan in the world, but it turns out I'm ESPECIALLY not a pumpkin stout fan. Even Creme Brulee was easier to finish than this, and it sucks that stuff like Oat got pulled from the rotation to make way for it,

This could fall in the "complain about something no one cares about" thread, but I'll keep it here. Had a shipment from OH arrive yesterday. The one beer in the box about which I was most ecstatic (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/341/53187)...leaked. It's growler only. Somehow about half the growler seeped out in transit. Completely not the trader's fault. Still a downer. He sounds more down than I am. Luckily he will be sending me a fresh one, next time Bodhi is out. Everything else in the box was in tact, at least, and the leaked Bodhi stayed inside the freezer bag, keeping the box and materials dry (I reuse them). I contemplated drinking the beer from the bag but passed

Oh that sucks. Even though I've had good experiences trading growlers I'm always wary about doing so, particularly since I spend most of the time paranoid about everything arriving properly. I'd be extra annoyed in this case since they've talked about bottling Bodhi for literally ages now to no avail. If it's any consolation, I think I prefer regular Columbus IPA to Bodhi, though Fat Head's is still my favorite for Ohio IPAs.

Columbus IPA is good. Fat Head's is easily in my top-5. Luckily he included a 4-pack of that. So damn good. I will be trying the Bodhi tonight with an asterisk. I'm guessing it won't be the same since it leaked.

As far as being paranoid, I'm the same way. Got a guy sending me the biggest shipment I've ever received (Elevated, Jai Alai, Pliny the Elder, and about 7-8 others), which means I have to put something equally as awesome together in return. I need JackRef to get over his GD cold to come by and help me consume!

I love Fat Head's so much. I really need to keep better track of their draft lists though, as I want to try to trade for some IBUsive the next time it comes up. Also Hop Juju just won the imperial IPA category at GABF, so I'm sure that one's going to be in high demand for the foreseeable future.

I'm trying! Stupid cough. I'll be in Ohio over Thanksgiving and be stopping by The Brew Kettle to get some fresh White Rajah before I head back. I can bring back Fat Head and Columbus IPA as well.

Just drank the Bodhi. I bet it's awesome, but I just could tell this growler just lost it's freshness in transit.

I won't be headed south for Thanksgiving, but I will be for Christmas, so I can pay you back if that's cool

In for a long weekend visiting some friends at U of A. Cracked open a really weird beer this morning:

Mr. Pineapple. So it's a pineapple wheat seasonal beer. You do get a late hint of the pineapple. It's brewed in Chandler, AZ so thought I'd give it a whirl.

You know I was initially annoyed when Founders ended up not putting Breakfast Stout in six-packs this year, but it's so damn easy to drink that it's probably for my own good.

Received this in a trade last night.

4 Elevated IPA
3 Jai Alai
1 Pliny the Elder
1 Odell IPA
3 Odell Myrcenary DIPA
1 Odell double pilsner
1 Dry Dock Hop Abomination
2 Upslope IPA
2 Happy Camper IPA
1 Boulder Beer Hoopla pale ale
1 Upslope imperial IPA

Only one I tried last night was the Upslope IPA. Took two sips and dumped it out. One of the worst IPAs I've ever had.
