The broadcast crew didn't even mention it. No one's mentioning it. I don't get it. It was a huge fucking no-call, and no one sees fit to mention it.

I'm not one to blame losses on refs, but good god! That play was a turning point, and that hold was blatant as they come.

I saw that too. Never saw a replay but in real time looked like one of the interior lineman was getting mugged no doubt.

I rewound the DVR, thinking that maybe I was just seeing things. Nope. Blatant as fuck.

So I wasn't the only one that saw that. I believe it was a 3rd down play too.

I saw it. Bears #97 was getting held for sure, no call. I also thought the offsides on the onside kick was bogus too. There was a 3rd down pass to Marshall early in the game too where Hall should have been flagged for a 5 yard hold. As Brick said, there was at least one no call on the punt return. The refs were terrible all game for both sides. Maybe being down a guy really hurt them. I dunno but it was pretty brutal.

Yeah, Nas, it was a third down. The critical third down of the game. And Frank's right that it was #97 (Landen Cohen, apparently) who was being held.

Like I said, I don't normally bitch about refs, but you have to call that. This wasn't a guy being held as he went by someone: it's a guy being grabbed by the arm after he's already beat his man. On a critical, game-changing third down. It was totally egregious. It cost the Bears the game.

Yeah, I thought so too (based on position of the feet) until they said that for onside kicks, your body cannot cross the plane before the kick. His feet were definitely behind the line, but it did appear his upper body had crossed.

This is a major first step for you my friend. I never thought you would admit that 28 passing yards+2 first downs+1 pick 6+8.3 passer rating+8 mins on the field in a half+1 yeast infection=NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

Same thing happened in the GB/Cle game. Guy's feet were behind the line, but most of his body was past it.

The pick 6 clearly wasnt Cutler's fault but how do you explain the overall crappy performance prior to the injury?

I never said it wasn't crappy. My point is that you can't blame the offense for yesterday's loss. They put up 34 points, and were up by 3 late in the 4th quarter. Defense couldn't hold it.

It all sucked. The Bears are bad on D and a notch or two above average on offense.

Yeah, defense gets the blame on this one but all the more reason that the offense cant sputter like that at the beginning of the game.

I can't. He frustrates you that way. One min you think he's great and then the next he's doing something stupid. There is never any rhyme or reason why he doesn't play to his potential on a regular basis. I don't think we've ever seen a player like him in Chicago.

So if they didn't sputter and lost 57-51 would we still be blaming Cutler?

The biggest problem with this team is not Cutler or whoever is under center. Its the bad defense.

No, but the poor showing in the first half led to the Redskins inspired play IMO. This was a team that was used to being down big early on. The Bears offense let them play with confidence and the lead.

Of course that takes into account unmeasurables like momentum and TWTW, which is a flimsy argument at best.

I don't know if they played confident or inspired or what not for most of the game. RGIII threw a horrible interception that went right to Tillman, and he should have thrown another one to Conte or Tillman if they both didn't screw up their coverage. A respectable defense would have clamped down and limited these clowns to 17-21 points at most. They had no business scoring 38 or whatever they ended up scoring.

It was a fun filled game with some lowlights for our hometown squad.

How long are you going to say this? When the defense was good/great you were still saying the same thing about them or about the pieces around him. I recall you saying this after the Vikings game last year even though Cutler was primarily responsible for 14 of their 21 points. Since the defense gave up that last touchdown he was untouchable again. It's silly. At some point Cutler has to be accountable for being consistently inconsistent. Sure the defense hasn't stopped teams from putting points up this season BUT most games they've also been responsible for the offense being in position to score points. How many long drives have we seen this season by the offense (when Cutler wasn't padding his stats at the end of a defeat)? Cutler isn't the biggest problem but he has consistently been one of them. That's unacceptable at this point.

What does Cutler's play last year have to do with yesterday?

FACT is as it stands right now the biggest problem with the Bears is not the quarterback, its the defense. #Truth

The Bears defense has a winning record this year.

So Frank, will you never cite Cutler's record ever again when defending him?

So Rick, where in this thread did I say anything about Cutler playing good or bad? Your or Nas, please feel free to quote me from this thread.

It shows a pattern of you going out of your way to absolve Cutler from any defeat or issue the team has. Fact is McCown should never be better than Cutler at anything football related. He's a bum.

I didn't say you did. I was defending the defense because they have a winning record this year which has been a common way that Cutler has been defended in the past. You considered it trolling. Does that mean you don't think wins and losses forgive poor play?

My god,

Cutler did not play well but people, he only threw a total of eight passes in a span of over a quarter.
You know, he could have picked up his game. Forte did not have more than 10 yards rushing when Cutler got hurt.
Why don't we blame Forte too for the slow start on offense. Of course this won't be brought up.

The offense, did score 10 points in the first quarter (yes due to god field position). Extrapolate that over 4 quarters and that is 40 points, so the offense wasn't totally dormant and did take advantage of field position.

Of course only Bear fans could see their defense give up 38 points in a game and blame the QB for the loss who threw only 8 passes in over a quarter.

How many yards did he have? How many passes did he complete against an awful defense? How many first downs? How much time did he spend on the field? What was his passer rating? How did the offense do once he got injured?
