You know, he could have picked up his game. Forte did not have more than 10 yards rushing when Cutler got hurt.
Why don't we blame Forte too for the slow start on offense. Of course this won't be brought up.

The offense, did score 10 points in the first quarter (yes due to god field position). Extrapolate that over 4 quarters and that is 40 points, so the offense wasn't totally dormant and did take advantage of field position.

Of course only Bear fans could see their defense give up 38 points in a game and blame the QB for the loss who threw only 8 passes in over a quarter.

How many yards did he have? How many passes did he complete against an awful defense? How many first downs? How much time did he spend on the field? What was his passer rating? How did the offense do once he got injured?

28, 3, 2, 8 something, very well.

I answered your questions, now answer mine.

How many rushing yards did Forte when Cutler was in the game?
Why don't you also blame Forte for the Bears slow start?

How many points did the Bears defense give up?

And again, PLEASE READ THIS ALOUD IF YOU HAVE TOO. You are blaming the QB (who threw a total of 8 passes) for the loos instead of the defense which gave up 38 points. You see how silly this sounds.

Bears scored 41 points and the defense only gave up 38.

Forte (3 touchdowns) and the entire offense seemed to play with a better pace once Cutler was removed. I'm not blaming Cutler for the loss but I am saying his play played a role in the defeat and shouldn't be overlooked. Maybe if the defense wasn't on the field so long in the first half Tillman and Briggs wouldn't have gotten hurt and they would have been able to finish the game. Maybe they would have had a little bit more left in the tank after forcing the Redskins the punt on the previous drive. We'll never know. Being on the field for 22 mins in 1 half will suck the life out of any defense wouldn't you agree?

Defense only gave up 38.....what is considered a bad game in your world?

Bears took a 10-3 lead and the defense gives up a TD back on the next possession.

Bears tie the game at 17 on the Hester punt return, defense gives up a TD back on the next possession

The Bears tie it at 24, defense gives up a TD back on the next possession

Bears tie it at 31, .defense gives up a TD back on the next possession

Bears take a 41-38 lead, defense gives up a TD back on the next possession
Sense a pattern here.

Regarding time of possession in the first half, lets look at a few things.

1) The Bears first TD drive went 2 plays after the Tillman INT. Hard to take time of the clock when you have to move only 8 yards.

2) The Hester punt return also gave the ball back to the Redskin offense and basically an extra possession

Add two Redskins drives (10+ plays in each drive) that totaled nearly 13 minutes of TOP.

The defense is not without blame for the disparity in the TOP in the first half.

The Redskins ran 72 plays on Sunday. 22 of which went for at least 10 yards. The Bears allowed over 200 yards rushing and almost 300 yards passing.

But its Cutler's fault the Bears lost.

Defense was on the field too long in the first half. Why was Cutler so bad?

I agree 100%. Thats because the Bears defense can't get off the field on 3rd down themselves. in the entire NFL, Only the Jaguars and Giants are worse on 3rd downs than the Bears. That is obviously Cutler's fault too.

The Bears defense wasn't playing terrible until the 2nd half. In the first half, they stuffed the Skins 2 plays, then give it up on 3rd down. That seemed to go on a lot until the second half when it all fell apart.

That is still bad, jimmy. Doesn't matter what the route looks like, the results were awful.

Its all Cutler's fault though.

That INT was terrible AND the difference in the game. 3 Redskins were in the "neighborhood" of that toss.

I'm not ripping him though. I thought he was off to one of his best seasons.

Frank is right. Cutler had a great game. Bears had the ball 8 times in the first half (same number as the Redskins who got the ball first) but only managed to stay on the field for 8 mins. That's very impressive. Defense should have given it to them 15 times if they really wanted to rest.

You are the one who it pointing your finger for Sunday's poor performance at Cutler. Not a mention of Forte being just as bad in the first half though from you.

So as I said, please quote where I praised Cutler for his performance on Sunday.

Forte had 3 touchdowns and Cutler had 3 completions. He and the offense somehow got better without Cutler. Who knows why? Saying Cutler's and the entire offense poor first half performance (leaving defense on the field for nearly the entire half) played a role in the loss Sunday is completely different than me saying it is ALL Cutler's fault.

How many rush yards did Forte have in the first half? How many receptions in the first half? What was his avg yards per rush in the first half? How many first downs did he run for in the first half?

Forte had a touchdown and Cutler had an interception. Why did the offense improve under an inferior QB? Wasn't that remarkable what McCown was able to accomplish?

Still waiting on answers to Forte's first half stats.

I answered that. QB sets the tone and is the leader of the offense. Forte had the only offensive touchdown of the half. Cutler kept trying to throw the ball to Hall.

No, you didn't. Not in this thread anyway.

Let me post for you again since you seem to have such a short memory;

That's hardly impressive, of the entire offense and not just Forte, since it was the product of a turnover and a short field. Can't we just say everything was bad in the first half? After the whole team rested during halftime and made adjustments, the offense came to life in the second half, but was let down by a putrid and leaky defense.
