Cardinals can thank Saltalamachia for those runs.

Would've been MUCH better if James Taylor pulled a Jeff Jarrett with that guitar and hit that asshat fruitbat in the blue shit that didn't know if he should cover his heart or feign indigestion over the coconut with it.

Lovin these wiffle-ball pitches from CMart.

Rosenthal, 11 pitches, 3 Ks.

New series. Best of 5. 3 in STL.

Unfortunately the Red Sox are going to look back at the top of the 7th as the inning that lost them the Series. Fucking Lackey needed to come out and have a shutdown inning there after taking the lead. Throw in Saltalamachias fucking inability to catch the ball cleanly on the steal of third and the throw home ( in both cases runner would've been out IMO ) and now they're fucked losing one of their 2 best hitters for the next 3 games . If the Cards don't score there I feel Boston would've shut them down rest of the way, be up 2-0 ,steal a game in St Louis and win it in 6 at home. Cards in 5 now.

The media is amazing how they try to stir up drama.

After game 1: Article on how St Louis is in trouble.

After game 2: Article on how Boston is in trouble.

It was one loss for both teams, neither team is in "trouble" right now.

Red Sox have Peavy and Bucholz going next 2 games with Napoli on the bench. Doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

Kelly and Lynn are not world beaters.

We all know Peavy is capable of pitching his ass off and winning game 3.

Yeah c'mon you guys know the media will jump on all sorts of click-inducing narratives. Panic and controversy sell.
I thought this would be good close series. It's interesting because you have the statistically best and highest-scoring teams in each league, but both have roster flaws. It makes for entertaining baseball.

I am curious why the Cardinals have went with Kelly and Lynn over Miller. I thought Miller looked like the better pitcher down the stretch.

He's supposedly fatigued and near an arbitrary innings limit, but nobody really understands this one. Why keep Shelby on the roster at all (nominally as a long man) then seem to not utilize him? If ever there was a spot for a long man, it was in game 1. Given the makeup of Boston's roster, a case could have been made for another LH specialist.

Kelly's traditional numbers look sparkly, and you can certainly say he bailed out the rotation down the stretch (with the attrition of Garcia, the deterioration of Westbrook, and the fatigue of Miller), but no reason has ever been officially given outside of Matheny's hunch.

Of the 30 starters this year who averaged over 93 MPH with their fastball, Kelly had the lowest K%, the highest contact %, and the second-lowest swinging strike %. Sure, he throws a 95 mile sinker, but his peripherals and the eye test tell he's a #5 (even on a good team). Virtually nobody thinks that Joe Kelly's true talent is higher than Shelby Miller's... but here we are and Joe Kelly is going to potentially start 2 WS games and Game 7 (if nec.)

uh, ok.. Probably doesn't matter but doesn't tobacco and nicotine give you a buzz? I would think you should just focus on pitching instead of chomping tobacco.

They were filling the stadium no matter what.

 This sounds like you have never watched sports before.
That stadium was packed for the next game even if they lost 43-0 today.

That was a terrible way for that game to end, but it was obviously the right call.

But wait....

I didn't see the game but heard what happened. Sounds like the right call was made and if Boston fans or team bitch about, too fucking bad. Find a pitcher or catcher that can throw the fucking ball to 3rd base and they might be up 3 games to none. Now they need to win 3 out of 4 and beat Wainwright( again) and Wacha to do it while throwing Buchholz out there who has been shit all playoffs. Im still saying Cardinals in 5.

Spanky and RFDC must think The Onion is real news. I'm almost positive Hiram was joking. It's pretty funny either way actually though.

If he was going to keep him in, he should have walked Jay to pitch to Kozma.

The 2B are really throwing the leather this series...Wong and Pedroia both made great stops on difficult short hops -- Pedroia on the last play.
