To me, this reads like saying "On the other hand, I agree Kevin Durant is a superior scorer and shooter to Luol Deng"

watched some of that Clippers game and it just looked like too much one on one ball.

I argued with Rick over the course of the past 3-4 years that John Wall was better than Evan Turner and going to be a good player. I still think he is a good player. He's not a great player. Rondo is.

John Wall looks for his shot more. He might be a naturally better scorer, but not by a significant margin. They both have similar strengths(driving, finishing) and weaknesses(shooting) when it comes to scoring. Rondo is just more self-aware and efficient. And he's the best natural passer in the NBA right now. The last couple of years it is just as likely that he was propping up KG, Pierce, etc. as it was vice versa. And comparing them defensively isn't even fair.

Rondo is a much better player right now. He's already at the point that you hope Wall might one day get to(the talented headcase who got his head on straight and realized his potential). It's the reason why he already is an All NBA player and and 4x All Star and John Wall is still 10 All star games and an All NBA team nomination away from being a "10 time + all star, All NBA, etc., type of guy"

We'll just have to see, as you said. Wall is just entering his fourth year, and I think it's worth mentioning that Rondo's stats only exploded once KG and Allen came on board. Speaking of headcases, I don't think he'll be writing thank you cards to those three for their role in making him the 4x all-star that he is, although I think he should. That's not to take away from his talent; he does quite well given his limitations. As for scoring, I think it's also worth noting that Rondo doesn't get to the line, and when he does, he doesn't do a great job. Wall gets to the line a lot, which has its value, and will only become more valuable if and when he gets other things figured out.

Yeah, I think that's just my reluctance to say anything nice about him. I just don't like him. Can't get that Hinrich-Rondo fight out of my head.

Rondo only played one season, his rookie season, before the Big 3 happened. That's a pretty ridiculous criticism. You already pretty much admitted this, but everything about this post is personal, not objective. Nobody ever(or rarely) thanks other players for turning them into All Stars. There's really no reason for him to. He did it. And his thanks to them can be leading them to the 2010 Finals as their best player and for routinely playing through injuries that would sideline anybody else except Kobe.

Good catch. Thought for some reason he had two years before KG and Allen arrived. The "thank you" part was part-sarcasm, intended to make the point that I think his stats were more a product of his teammates than his own skill. We disagree on that, and I guess I'll follow him with interest this season to see how right, or wrong, I was.

I don't think he was the team's best player in 2010. In my view, the most important players have always been, in this order, KG, Pierce, Allen, Rondo, though I think you could switch Allen and Rondo once they got into 2010 and later.

We'll see. I think we can both agree the league needs Rondo, Kobe, and Westbrook back.

Can't wait for this Cleveland/Brooklyn game to start. I'm expecting an MVP-type season from Kyrie this year. The Best PG Alive contest will be fun this year between him, Rose, Paul, and Parker. Also I love the Jack signing for Cleveland. That and Watson-to-Indiana were highly underrated offseason moves.

15 games tonight, and league pass is doing a free preview all week.

My pants have already been removed.

Agree on those injured player, though I think Kobe and the Lakers are done. I'm a bit of an ageist though when it comes to sports, so I may be wrong. Guys like Fred Jackson and Tim Duncan keep proving me wrong, so you never know.

Parker is great but I don't think he belongs in that class. No three point shot despite a decade in the league, and I don't think he's been known for having particularly good defense. Rose and Irving (I assume?) haven't either, but they've got room to grow.

Speaking of Irving, I realize he's only got two years in the league, but is he already the best NBA'er from Duke after G. Hill? Am I missing anyone? Brand was good when younger, but will probably be known for being a solid but unspectacular pro. Williams was intriguing before he threw it all away, and I'm not sure who else of note is left.

I really hate Earl Clark. The Cavs desperately need to upgrade their 3 spot.

Philly is smoking the Heat right now.

And I didn't start Evan Turner in my pay league tonight.

Iso Joe was funny to mock in his prime. Now it's downright hilarious. He's pretty bad.

Wow.

Andrew Bynum just checked in. Didn't think he would play for awhile.

I'm not sure. But I'm getting a little sick of vegan fan. Lets go create our own board DB exclusively for people who like the NBA, cheeseburgers, and bud.

No, it's the Rondo hate. BRick and Nas tried this in '08 and I've hated them ever since. Sorry man.

But..I can change.

:D

We'll see, man. I'm open to changing my opinion, as I suggested above. I'll admit he's better than I thought if I see it, but I'll never get over the Hinrich thing, though I realize the two are separate things.

Remind me what exactly he did that was so egregious? Was it worse than James Posey's sucker punch to Hinrich? I don't even remember it.

Can't find the precise clip, but I think this was the aftermath that happened later in the same game, or perhaps in a later game in the series: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7O6idTRluc

The clip I can't find is of Hinrich driving for a wide open layup on a fast break, and Rondo blatantly tripping him (something you see 8th graders do to each other) so he falls face first onto the ground. That's what got me so angry.

Yeah I can see why that's something that would stick with you.

I could see Noah doing something like that. And he's my favorite player in the league.

I'm curious to see how Rondo plays without the Big 2. I think he'll be even better but some doubt it. For the sake of my fantasy (he was a keeper) I hope he doesn't pull a D Rose.

I don't know...it was a violent thing to do. Concussion and/or broken teeth at worst. Bruised cranium at best. He was a jerk for not preventing the layup the conventional way.

He won't. He has the mentality of Iverson/Kobe. He'll be back as soon as possible. Only possible exception is if Ainge and Stevens convince him to sit out longer since this will be a lost season.

From the little I've seen so far I like the way Tyreke fits with that NO lineup. It's pretty damn interesting with Ryan Anderson at the other forward spot.

Charlotte will probably be better than a good 4 or 5 teams this year. Progress!
