Yeah I don't see Boston scoring enough runs for losing pitcher Jake Peavey to be able to win 2 games he would've started

People say a lot of stuff for PR reasons, but isn't it common knowledge that there was a deep divide between he and Lucchino? Isn't the narrative that he didn't want to sign all those high-priced guys like Crawford and Lackey but the ownership group forced him to? So when Lackey sucks, it's not Theo's fault. But when he's a key to a World Series run, he's Theo's guy. It must be nice to be the teflon GM.

Oh come on Jorr. Lackey was a bad signing and its always been used against Theo, with good reason.

Its still a bad signing.

Wasn't Lackey their second best pitcher through the playoff run? He helped win a World Series. I'm not sure how that could be a bad signing in spite of last season and the fried chicken collapse the year before.

Do you suddenly not believe in losing now to win later?

I told him the first game I went to I was 10, it was a cubs v Expos game on a rainy April Monday.

He said 'Who are the Expos?"

Reminds me of when I was talking to my 13 year old nephew about hockey last spring, and I made the mistake of referring to Carolina as Hartford and Colorado as Quebec.

Are you suggesting Peavey's TWTW doesn't completely negate his posteseson 1.93 WHIP or 14 H/9 (or 9.27 ERA)?

See, JORR, you're the one that wants it both ways. Im sure you ripped Theo for Lackey before.

Ultimately, the Lackey signing ended up paying dividends, but they didnt get close to the production they thought they would get over the life of the contract.

EDIT: For the record, Im ripping a Theo signing and getting shit for it. #CantWin #LeavingToStartProTheoBoard

A really close friend of mine lives just north of Boston. She has a twelve year old kid and I talked to him before yesterday's game and asked him if he thought the Red Sox would close it out. He didn't hesitate and said, "They will." as if it were a fait accompli.

It got me to thinking about his sports world and how much different it is from that of anyone I grew up with. This kid expects his teams to win. In his short lifetime, Boston has been King Kong. They've won in all sports, most more than once. I think they've even won in soccer. In his world, the Yankees are the team trying to be the Red Sox. It's very strange.

Lackey and I have had a roller coaster relationship. I was once a HUGE fan.

Not sure if it was injuries or what in Boston.
