I don't pretend to know about mental illness but I doubt it's the job that is wearing him down.

If he doesn't come back on the air, does Larry just get plugged in permanently? God help us all if that happens.

Get well soon, Mac.

Well, we should know by now that Mitch will do anything in his power to get Larry a major daypart, even if it means hiring Dan Hampton.

I would imagine that losing a parent to suicide could lead to long term mental issues.

sure you do. just like you said, youre a glass half full guy with mostly good days- and there really isnt a reason for it.

depression is the opposite. you cant help but see things half gone, and good days are few between- and there really isnt a reason for it.

Leery just threw it to commercial saying "you're listening to Spiegal and Holmes on the Score." No mention of the Mac and Spiegal Show. The vultures are circling Maceyfish. Get yourself well and get your ass back to work. Fast.

2 things that I have never understood were depression & stress. I'm lucky to be a person who is a glass half full optimist & depression & bad days are few & far between for me. Who knows what causes depression...but didn't Macs birth Mother commit suicide when he was a youth?

I used to not be able to understand people when they said they were depressed. That is until I realized what it was. It is a very serious issue. I'm not sure if medication is always the cure but I think you would be surprised at the number of people who go untreated.

You're a major league asshole for bringing up his mother or you lack basic awareness. Especially since you don't know if it is true or not.

I don't think he meant that maliciously. More like that could be one of the causes of his depression.

Why bring up her death if he isn't sure it's true? He could have asked if anyone is aware of a family history of mental illness.

Get well Mac. Hope to you hear you back on the airwaves soon -- maybe on WGN?
BTW, I also think Scorehead needs a lengthy time out.

I thought this was obvious.

This was either written in a story the last time Mac was on leave, or Mac mentioned it on air.

Suicide is not an appropriate speculative subject.

Yeah. I'd chalk it up to basic awareness. The suicide isn't speculative. He wrote it here somewhere.

Mac's had a rough time, lots of stress, and a history of depression. I can't imagine the struggles he must face. I wish him and family the best. It's hard to watch it and live through it with them.

it's not speculation. Mac has said this on air.

Quitting Marijuana often leads to depression and lots of anxiety. Mac might be caught in a horrible cycle of curing one thing and opening another.

I wouldnt wish it on anyone. Get well, Mac

This sucks to hear. Depression ain't no joke. I've witnessed it, and it is one of life's most terrible things. Best of luck to Mac.
