Ask the fans of the Minnesota Vikings.

The Herschel Walker trade, also known as "The Great Trade Robbery",
"Dallas ended up with a total of six of Minnesota's picks over the succeeding years, two 1st round and one 2nd round picks were used to draft Emmitt Smith and Darren Woodson, winning multiple Super Bowls and being voted on to go to the Pro Bowl numerous times also. Jimmy Johnson used the other draft picks to make trades with other teams around the NFL. One of the trades led to obtaining the first overall draft pick in 1991, which was used to draft Russell Maryland. In other words, the trade of Herschel Walker to the Vikings contributed largely to the Cowboys' success in the early 1990s. For this reason, ESPN.com lists it as the 8th most lopsided trade in sports history.[4] Seventeen years later, the trade was still an easy target for satire: one ESPN columnist, assessing the impact of free agency on the NFL, noted that it had almost entirely replaced significant trades and by doing so "took away one of the greatest shortcuts to becoming a Super Bowl champion: fleecing the Vikings."

Fair or not, this is how he is remembered.

Guessing lack of time as guys play longer and longer now.

Which is why I hate the concept of Tiki Barber doing anything as an ALL TIME GREAT.

Walker has more talent in his finger than Barber has in both legs.

Of course if it is the NFL Hall, they still might be pissed about that USFL.

You know when you go to a 'rogue league', makes it hard to come back...YA KNOW WHAT I MEAN ???????

 Yes I do know what you mean.

Total USFL Rushing and Receiving Yards: 7046
Total NFL Rushing and Receiving Yards: 13,084

Those numbers are impressive even if you don't want to add them together. He was a workhorse and he managed to stay on the field during an era where it was legal to do just about anything to a guy.

I feel sorry for the kids today. We got a chance to see the greatest players play in pretty much every sport as kids. The best they have is LeBron James. Very unfortunate for them.

I'm struggling to think of one that is even close to Gretzky.

It's like MJ getting traded in 1993 to......Orlando.

Yeah, it was too easy, but I actually do think it is accurate. I think warren moon had similar issues, then the numbers become so overwhelming that they start talking about it like it was always a no brainer.

Best part about Walker was that he looked like he was taking those tiny steps and he just hauled ass!

In terms of impact it is probably Kobe for Vlade Divac.

I think all GM's are so concerned about giving away talent that becomes a star. Even if it helps the team win in the current day, I still think most GM's are scared of making the bad move v Making the good move.

I think the Yankees and Orioles traded like 20 players or something in the 50s. Gene Woodling and Bob Turley were in there.

Different way of doing a lot of things back then or Ruth would have to be on the list.

Pedro Martinez was traded to Montreal for second baseman Delino DeShields.

Colts traded Elway to Denver in exchange for quarterback Mark Hermann, Chris Hinton and a first-round pick in the 1984 draft.

Mets trade Nolan Ryan, Don Rose, outfielder Leroy Stanton and catcher Francisco Estrada to California in exchange for shortstop Jim Fregosi.

Reds traded Frank Robinson to Baltimore in exchange for pitchers Milt Pappas and Jack Baldschun and outfielder Dick Simpson

The Sonics traded Pippen, the fifth pick in the draft, to Chicago in exchange for the eighth pick, center Olden Polynice, a second-round pick and the option to switch first-round picks in 1989

Mets trade Tom Seaver to Reds for Doug Flynn, Steve Henderson, Dan Norman, and Pat Zachry

Orioles trade Curt Schilling, Steve Finley and Pete Harnisch to Astros for Glenn Davis in 1991

MY PERSONAL FAVORITE:

White Sox trade Sammy Sosa to Cubs for George Bell in 1992

Phillies trade Ryne Sandberg and Larry Bowa to Cubs for Ivan DeJesus in 1982. Not even the best Dejesus of all time.

Warriors trade Wilt Chamberlain to 76ers for Paul Neumann, Connie Dierking, Lee Shaffer and cash in 19

I think you have it covered. The one I would mention is:
Ferguson Jenkins traded the following year to the Chicago Cubs, along with Adolfo Phillips and John Herrnstein, for pitchers Larry Jackson and Bob Buhl.

I remember an article in SI, I think, where Walker said he didn't lift weights only did calisthenics and push-ups, pull-ups etc. I think this was when he was still in college.

I think Bob Buhl is the guy who is considered by many experts to be the worst hitter in big league history.

He was a pitcher,I thought. Worst Cub pitcher for hitting was Bill Hands, hands down.

Yeah, he was a pitcher, but he was just brutal at the plate.
