Greg Schiano may become available. That could be a good target for Illinois.

Do the coaches they hire need to be increasingly dumb?

Evidence of a problem with the defense, apparently.

Kill me now.

I assume the only quarterbacks in camp were Illinois quarterbacks.

Surprisingly, no. The Illini D snatched 22 picks off Peyton Manning in camp while Nathan Scheelhaase was, apparently, snatch-free.

I don't know what's gone wrong with the D since.

Maybe that is the problem. Need to get the team some snatch.

Up 3 with 3 minutes to go and no PSU timeouts and you're throwing on 1st down?

Go away.

I was thinking the same thing. Except in stead of 'go away' I was thinking 'thank you'

I don't know what the playcall was on the final play in overtime either but I really don't understand why any team throws passes like that in overtime. You have 4 chances to go ten yards and instead you are throwing a 28 yard pass?

Sorry Dr. Ken. You can hire my coach if you want.

Agree, but thats how they came back in the second half. Those dinky screens, misdirections, throwing to guys who havent caught passes all year.

They pulled a 2nd half surprise party on Penn state.

I dont know if Indiana has a good defense but they have a decent offense and they practice against these plays all week.

AD Mike Thomas Q&A - .

Quote:
How would you assess Tim Beckman’s second season?

We’re moving the needle as it relates to building the foundation for this program, which includes a number of things. It is those off-the-field things. It’s building the culture of your program that you can be proud of that your kids have a certain attitude and things are important to them, not just playing the game of football. I think that’s very, very important. But once again, they’re not mutually exclusive.
I do think that if you don’t have that side of it, the foundation of your program is probably built on sand. The question we’d like to have is we know we’re going to be in postseason play. It’s just a matter of where.

Let’s face it: Not even the best teams in this conference every year are winning the Big Ten or going to a BCS game, but you certainly want to be in the conversation. As you get to this point in the year and you feel like you’re being competitive, it’s giving your fan base something to be excited about.

You're moving the needle, alright. Straight into my arm.

Beckman values continuity.

Even if it's horrible, horrible continuity.

Illinois and Tim Beckman celebrating the signing of the worst class in the Big Ten today.

On the plus side, we got Jeff George Jr. to take a greyshirt scholly. I'm hoping for Mel Agee Jr., Moe Gardner Jr., and Darrick Brownlow Jr. to follow.

Seriously considering getting a graduate degree from a different school; just so I could possibly be a fan of a winning school.

In other Big 10 recruiting news, Indiana signed one of its best classes ever, considered the 7th best in the Big 10.

Now hopefully some of that translates into stopping someone on D this year.

Wins during the 3 year Tim Beckman Dynasty -

Western Michigan
Charleston Southern
Southern Illinois
Cincinnati
Miami (OH)
Purdue
Youngstown St.
Western Kentucky
Texas State

And Zook got fired for back-to-back 6-6 seasons with bowl wins.

How in the hell did they beat Cincinnati?

Scheelhaase was out of his mind and Cincy didn't believe in covering crossing patterns.
