I agree on Pipeworks. The ones I've had were underwhelming, especially for the price.

I'd heard this one is pretty good. So, I thought I'd give it a go. But, this is their last chance or they lose the Dr. Ken pipeline of beer down the ol' Irish gullet.

Picked up sixers of Lagunitas Brown Shugga and Zombie Dust over lunch. I've never had the former.

Had the Green Flash Green Bullet triple IPA yesterday. Not quite as smooth as the Imperial but it will knock you on your butt at 10.1%. I'd get it again but that's a Dr. Ken Special "I'm gonna sit right in this chair the rest of the night and take a nap"-type beer.

Purchased a bomber last night. Waiting in fridge......freakin' work getting in the way.

I'm taking the dirt nap.

Porter or stout any day of the week over an IPA. Can't do it.

Sidekick will probably be about as close as I get.

I love both, although I'm not a huge Porter fan.

I am not a fan of sours either. You don't like a heavy IPA, Matt? Not a Zombie Dust fan?

What are some good porters/stouts? I don't like them, but I'm putting together a beer basket for my just-turned-21 stepbrother who's visiting next month.

Sorry to butt in here, but Founders Breakfast Stout is outstanding! Chocolatey, oatmeal, coffee and a tad of liqorice notes. One other, that's hard to find is Evil Twin's "Even More Jesus"

Not butting in at all! The more you suggestions you guys give me, the better. FBS is already on my list, along with Ten Fidy. Will add Even More Jesus to it. Wish that bastard (step-bro, not you PM) liked IPAs. I've got about 20-25 different beers in my fridge.

Also, I'd suggest Southern Tier's "Oat" ..... an Imperial Stout. 10.2% ABV Good stuff.

Never had Zombie Dust. 3 floyds isn't available in Hooterville. I've never had a heavy IPA. But I do like sours.

Black Butte is great....Samuel Smith Taddy Porter.....Left Hand Nitro Stout....Eugene Porter by Revolution...Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout....that's a pretty good start.

Good call on the Founders. That's great.

Old Rasputin is easy to find too....great stuff! I noticed the other day that Meijer was carrying it.

He's currently stationed in Norfolk, so I'm hoping most of these will be "new" to him.

Thats a great list right there. I might add Schlafly's Oatmeal Stout as well.

Where'd you find Zombie Dust? Don't think I have seen it in years, except for at 3 Floyds' place.

My local place in Palatine calls me when they get a shipment, which is usually one case about once a month.

Got some Surly today via a trade. Furious and Overrated both impressed me. Would love to see these on the shelves around here. Saving the Abrasive for a fresh palate.

Is this the Stone Enjoy By 11-12-13 you're referencing?

I had it on tap a few weeks ago and thought it was amazing in a perverse, almost antagonistic way

To this palate, the predominant flavor was an abrasive piney-ness that made me feel as though I was getting impaled in the mouth with a Christmas tree. I'm not quite sure I "enjoyed" this beer, but I have been craving it for some time now. One of the most unique libations I've consumed in quite some time.

By the way, is a Boilermaker such as yourself big through the hips, perhaps a bit roomy?
