Well,it sounds like Boers & Bernstein don't think too much of the guy either. Somebody texted if this guy has a plate in his head, like Zimmer. The 4 of them at transition basically agreed he at least sounds "soft" as opposed to Sveum who was more of a hard ass.

Jimmy, what exactly do you want? Not being funny, just curious. Keep in mind that Ricketts is cash poor and wont splash on big name FA signings.

They had a team full of older free agents and managed by repsected veteran and it didnt work. They went in the tank and played young guys with a hard ass manager and it didnt work. Now they are going to more of a teaching guy. It isnt like they are making the same mistakes, they are trying something new.

I won't speak for jimmy it is just this is not a very exciting name hire as far as the Cubs manager goes. Before this manager search how many people here had actually heard of this guy or heard him mentioned in other teams manager searches? It seems like Jed and Theo only bring in people from the Red Sox or Padres that they had dealings with in the past and so far the results have been pretty lackluster. I look forward to bringing in Steve Garvey and Jose Offerman soon

I get it but they hired Dusty and Lou as the big name splashes and it didnt work. You cant keep doing the same things over and over again hoping for different results.

Well they just hired a guy who was supposed to be a teacher and baseball smart with Sveum and that didn't work out either. I just want the Cubs to actually be watchable again.

Me too but my point in the intial question was that this is the last route to try regarding managers.

Dusty: Experienced, players manager
Lou: Experienced, hard ass
Quade: Off the wall weirdo
Dale: Rookie teacher, hard ass
Renteria: Rookie teacher, players manager

Well I think we can all agree the Cubs players can use less accountability

Phil,
You can speak for me. I like the cut of your jib. I'm tired of the attacks & hazing. Next they will force me to wear a toupee since shaving my head is not an option.
