He couldn't scramble at all, not one yard which isn't very cutler-ey.
Granted, Forte did absolutely nothing on the ground either but I digress.
You hold the Lions to 21 points and you need to win that game.
The defense did it's thing.

Cutler wasn't planting at all, throws were not strong. Now he had a couple good throws, I'm not gonna say he was terrible all game long. The overturned td throw was great, just a bad late bobble, but that might have been the only great throw all game.

To me the thing is you are talking about franchising this guy and he won't have the presence of mind to be honest and say he can't go when he can't go? He can't move, can't run? His mobility is what makes him as good as he is when he's healthy. And today he'd pocket passing and cannot avoid hit after hit.

Now trestman should have known better than to leave him out there, particularly after halftime. SO that's on him too.
But the real villain is Cutler... not being honest.

Second place is that 4th and 1 attempt.

And third place... Forte shakes off the first tackle said no one ever.

Yep.

This is the most down on Cutler I've ever been.

Trestman should have told him he can't play. End of it. I like that Cutler wanted to play but both should have known it was not in the best interest of the team.

You guys are insane. Cutler didn't need to say he wasn't healthy. You could tell from your couch.

It's the coach's decision. Period. Literally no room for discussion.

A guy who was out of the league and thought he'd never play in the NFL again once again looked great in this offense.

It really puts into persepective just how "valuable" Cutler is. People used to always say "He has no weapons!". Now, it's pretty clear the weapons are making him and McCown look good.

You're always absolute about these things and usually wrong. Both get blame. IMO Trestman gets more.

NFL offenses are about being on time with throws and making correct decisions. A minimum arm strength is a necessity, but elite arm strength is just a luxury that is irrelevant without a foundation. Jay Cutler is not this team's QB going forward.

Saying both get blame is absolute, too, fwiw.

JAY CUTLER'S INJURY IS IRRELEVANT. HE MADE THE SAME MISTAKES HE ALWAYS MAKES! HE CAN'T LEAD A RHYTHM OFFENSE.

Is this the first time in the history of sports a player is being criticized for not wanting to come out? He got ripped when he tore his MCL for coming out. Now getting ripped for playing.

There will always be Cutler apologists. Cutler just needs more offensive weapons around him!

No, people ripped RGIII the same way and at least RGIII's motives weren't contract related.

Big difference.

The media was who ripped him over the MCL. Also, his fellow players (MJD, Where Are YOu?)

We are ripping him and his coach for allowing him to play when it was obvious to the untrained eye that he didn't have it today.

And that his backup is clearly better than he is in this offense (and probably most offenses).

You're assuming its contract related, though.

Rg3 had a pretty decent marketing campaign around his return, though.

Incredibly stupid that Cutler wasn't pulled no later than the 1st series of the 2nd half.

Wow.

Agree. Up until that point it wasn't obviously hindering him. From that point forward, it was brutally obvious. Every throw was off his back foot.

If I'm coaching and I see the guy grabbing his groin AND throwing 5 yard passes into the turf, that would be enough for me.

Stop saying things like this please. We'd never be able to talk about anything if we can't look at obvious situations as obvious.

STFU! You have absolutely no credibility here. You were hammering me all week for my stance on Cutler and it ended up being 100% true. Save your Cutler defenses for another day. He hurt the team by not being healthy. That's even overlooking his redzone interception. You don't put yourself above the team. The Bears lost a winnable game.

Calm down.

If you are going to blindly assume Jay wanting to play in one extra game due to his contract, I think you would also have to blindly assume Rg3 was rushing back for marketing purposes. To be fair, I don't think either are likely. Just stating the obvious.

Agreed. You don't wait until the last drive. Cutler was trying to gut it out but he didn't have it in the 2nd half. Trestman needs to make that tough decision right away. It's one of the things that cost the Bears the game.

I'm going with blaming Trestman on this one.

He's the coach. It's his call. Shouldn't have started him and should have pulled him.

His worst game as a Bears coach so far.

Who cares though? RGIII was worried that Cousins would take his job. That was the real reason.

It still doesn't matter. You wanted to act like this was unprecedented when it clearly has happened before. I'm pretty sure it has also happened to Vick before.
